Tone I don't get any higher than Tribunus in the military rank. I have used a Patrician that has gone all over the world alone taking city after city by himself (auto_win) and he never get any higher.
Any idea why?

He finally got the Legatus trait.
I think we need to tweak the conditions a bit.

just got an ancillary, "Faithful Servant" +1 Influence +1 Personal Security (increases the chance of assasination) surely that should read decreases the chance... ?

Ok, I fixed the ancillary description and bumped the military career triggers a bit, hopefully to speed things up a little bit more.

Would it be possible to add a former Dictator trait?
I was thinking of adding it to Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus Cunctator.

The problem with the whole Dictator thing (as I have considered this) is that a Consul was only a dictator for a year, I think...2 turns. And this was only on rare occasion of national threat. I thought of somehow tying it to the Levy traits....where if Rome was threatened a 'Dictator' would be chosen...but they aren't activated for the player.

Yeah but couldn't we just make a "former Dictator" trait for Fabius?

I 'think' I've found the cause of the errorless CTD's...or at least most of them. I had some triggers with the same name in the faction leader triggers. Whenever the trigger is invoked, an errorless CTD occurs. I hope that will eliminate them. This was corrected in the last update.
Tone, I'm not sure what you mean? I 'could' reference the Levy traits, so that, for example, if Hannibal takes Arretium (which he often does) the current faction leader would be made 'Dictator'. All I'd have to do is use a differently named 'dictator' trait, as you suggest. But does this trait become active for the player? It would be kinda useless if you weren't playing Rome, because you'd rarely see it.
But if the trait is active, I think it can be done. Or is it only the SCRIPT that's not active, and the trait is?

My understanding is that the traits will be the same across all campaigns. The only difference then is that the Levy will only work for a non-player faction by having "and not FactionIsLocal" in the script.....if you play the test campaign you'll soon see the currentlly unhidden RomanLevy traits on your characters if you allow Carthage to take a settlement. The only problem there is that maybe you need to make the trait triggered differently... The only other thought I'm having is whether we need to make a random selection of one or two more of the southern cities in Italy rebel / go to Carthage instead of just Capua - Crotona, for example, was Hannibal's winter headquarters for three years. But if the trait is active, I think it can be done. Or is it only the SCRIPT that's not active, and the trait is?
so are people getting beyond quaestor?
I have created 2 new traits, per suggestions:
Dictator of the Republic
Former Dictator
The former is triggered by the same triggers that work the Levy traits...if the Romans lose any of the cities in the Levy triggers, the faction leader is made 'Dictator'. Then I created a new trigger, like so:
Trigger Roman_Republican_Dictator_Reset
WhenToTest CharacterTurnStart
Condition CultureType roman
and FactionType romans_brutii
and IsFactionLeader
and I_SettlementOwner Rome = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Capua = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Arretium = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Ariminum = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Cannae = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Crotona = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Rhegion = romans_brutii
and I_SettlementOwner Tarentum = romans_brutii
and Trait RomanLevy > 0
Affects Former_Republican_Dictator 2 Chance 100
That should override it's anti-trait (Republican_Dictator) and make the faction leader a 'former' if Rome owns all the cities listed.
I'm not sure if that's right though. Tone may want to have a look at it.

the work you have recently done on the traits, do i need to start a new campaign to see it working properly? if not then i am not seeing it work properly.

I have been adding new traits to the end of the list of traits, in the hopes that I don't screw up the 'line number' of the trait, which apparently RTW keeps track of. So it 'shouldn't' affect other traits. But I can't say that for certain. I also fixed a situation where the Faction Leader was getting the trait 'Nation Prospering', or whatever it's called. He's not supposed to get that, but other characters are.
So I don't know......what exactly do you think isn't working?
