Trouble with steam

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, every time I try going online it says that I need to have steam running to play online. The only problem is steam is already running. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've had this problem with MW2 and NW

The issue with their server.

Not much you can do but keep trying.

I experienced a simmilar issue while hosting an online battle yesterday. After getting booted from the battle I was trying to contact a person I was playing with as we were having a rather interesting game, but Steam didn't seem to be working properly. I believe Steam support team was doing some maintenance or smth along the lines. Might be the same issue that you are experiencing.

Make sure steam is running in online mode

I'm sure it was running in online mode for me as I got booted in the middle of the online battle that I was hosting.

Yeah that was directed at Baron Von Stupid. Your problem was probably just steam shutting down for maintenance. The day you got booted and the day before or after steam shut down like 6 times on me. Some days steam just seems to be jacked.

Yeah, I think it was steam being under maintenance, I can play online now.

They had a server maintanance at the time of your post. Could get a connection either. If you have steam in-game you could check the overlay - a bunch of panels will say the steam servers are offline.

well I am online but can't launch the game.. how is that?
