Colossus of Rhodes etc

When I am on campaign map, you can see a ring of stones in various areas. When you hover your mouse over them it says if you fight a battle on that tile, you can see a wonder of the world when in battle, such as The colossus of Rhodes or the hanging gardens of babylon.

Several times I have assaulted Rhodes on the tile in question and I NEVER get to see the colossus............thoughts please??

Maybe it has to be a pitched battle not a siege assault?

Assault from the port side (that's where the Colossus is)..you won't see it in a siege (maybe in the far distance), but if The Greeks have a seperate army lurking on the island, when they attack you, you'll be fighting at the very feet of the Colossus
