Help! NVidia GTX275 crashing on startup!

Crashing on startup with Windows error:

Empire was working. Upgraded my video card from 9800 to GTX275 factory overclocked and Empire refuses to run. Reinstalled Steam, reinstalled Empire, deleted the Scripts folder in that hidden directory. Tried the 181.22 NVidia driver. Otherwise all other drivers up-to-date.

System specs:

Windows XP - 32 bit
4 gigs ram
Dual 2 Core

Any help is appreciated.

strange it should be working.... have you opened the file in scripts folder? since there might be your problem... since its something auto generated, the file might still think that you have a 9800 gt, change the line where it states or gpu. and put the file to read only

I deleted the entire script file directory (in that hidden folder documents thingy) before I reinstalled Steam.

BTW, in researching the problem, I discovered dozens of other people with similar issues. Tested the install using my old 9800 and my son's ATI HD57 card and it works fine.
