Default Side effects from editing descr_strat/campaign start date

Im messing around with my descr_strat to make the start date 1080 rather then 1100 and changing the empires/provinces around Byzantium to reflect the state of affairs of that time.

Will there be any side effects from doing this?

For example the events, will they all happen 20 years earlier then they should or are they tied to the actual year rather then turns?

    Cheers.

They will happen 20 years too early. The dates for events in descr_events.txt are years after the campaign starts.

So changing the timescale won't change the events dates.

So to make it idiot proof for me before I start changing it, below I should put +20 on each date? On the below extract I should put 2 as 22?

    ;event historic mongols_invasion_warn
    ;date 2

    Cheers.

    A related question:

Will changing timescale (to 0.50, i.e. 2TPY, for example) misplace the events to the wrong dates? Or will they just appear at later turns, but correct years?

    P.S.

Why do people keep wanting a 1080 start date? It's not that anything important is tied to that year — only that vanilla campaign is set to begin there.

For Byzantium, its the start of the Komnenos era of rule. Also its more of a challenge then 1100 start if the provinces are set out historically.

Yep, CC was right on all counts. Ive tested a 2TPY game and the numbers are years after start, not turns.
