Has anyone noticed all the earthquakes that are happening lately around the world? Like I've just been seeing a lot of them being reported on. Is this something that is normal, like, is there some plate shifting going on big time?

I suppose it's the usual media hype. You recognized it yourself: "Like I've just been seeing a lot of them being reported on.". The emphasis is on "being reported". After one severe storm, most above-average storms get reported. After one severe earthquake, most above-average earthquakes get an article in the news. And if there should be two in close succession, we get a headline like "Mother Earth strikes back!"
(mind you, I'm not making fun of disaster victims here, but the media).
"The cheapest form of pride however is national pride. For it reveals in the one thus afflicted the lack of individual qualities of which he could be proud, while he would not otherwise reach for what he shares with so many millions. He who possesses significant personal merits will rather recognise the defects of his own nation, as he has them constantly before his eyes, most clearly. But that poor blighter who has nothing in the world of which he can be proud, latches onto the last means of being proud, the nation to which he belongs to. Thus he recovers and is now in gratitude ready to defend with hands and feet all errors and follies which are its own."-- Arthur Schopenhauer
I'm pretty sure earthquakes have been pretty statistically predictable and haven't really been 'spiking' in activity recently. I think a death count seriously sells news and I'm sad to say that every network relies on the tactic of using death counts to get their advertisers ratings.
Thats what I thought. I know the whole pacific area is a very active place earth wise.. just all kinds of crazy I've been hearing lately. I guess the death counts have dropped low enough in Astan that they're bored.
Earthquakes just break the news more easily after Haiti.
