Default Calling all those who played with the Reich

Greetings to all, or should I say Guten tag,

DLV is an awesome mod, infact arguably, one of the best mods I have ever played...However I have played DLV on medium for both Kiev and Holy Roman Empire. The problem is with the Reich. I seem to have more trouble playing with the EMpire than with Kiev? Infact my Kiev campiagn I have made Novgorod my vassal and Lithuania is on the way

So the challenge...can anyone give me good tips to play with the Reich without being destroyed? If there is some other thread please post a LINK,

    Thanks to all

I've just started shiny new campaign with HRE and it's some kind of grim joke what is happening:

    - 3rd turn: I loose capitol to rebels (their full stack vs my few militia units and a governor) and of course 10 000 after moving capitol to Bologna, which I wanted to sell it to anyone who will give me at least 10k - now I can't because it's my freaking capitol,

    - having 0 military points leaves me with peasants and town militia, but it's OK because I have no money to recruit anyway,

    - after loosing capitol my governors have 2 or 3 loyalty points and I loose 10 gov points after king gets "offends influential" trait, (now it's "inspiring civil war" and I have enough for today)

    - my provinces are swarming with rebels and all I can do is to click next turn button waiting for a miracle because I have to few men to retake Frankfurt,

    - Milan, Venice and pope hates me and don't want to trade with me.

I stopped playing Danmark campaign because I was too powerfull and it was quite boring playing like that, but I didn't expect something like that .

bardock85, check out the Strategy Guide for New Players in the Sticky. Scroll down to Faction Overview. Click on that link, and you'll find germany in there.

Almost the German Reich, I played with Teutoic Order just now. My idea was to create the German Reich of the 19th century, including western Poland and Prussia, minus switzerland and Austria + Ally with Hungry.

    1. I send a crusade to take poands Cracow, then I retake it with power, once the crusaders are worn down.

    2. My king recives the Polak crown, but I only have 2 nobles.

    3. I push into Germany, south-east of Prussia.

    4. Then a German diplomat demand that I become their vassal. I send his head back on a plate. However, a couple of turns later, 3 stacks of German nobles tear down my expencive teutonic soliders. I defeat their armys, but just barly surviving sergeant army. Now, Novgorod is pist because I traded with Kiev (novgoord's enemy) and fought their Pagan ally and are standing on my south eastern borders, ready to cross. I threr for accept the bitter German deal of vassal.

    5. Lithuania takes my Baltic starting city. A heavy pagan, Orthodox and jewish religious storm sweapt across my and soliders refuse to be recruited. My purse is knee deep in strickt funds after the cruel german "protectionist" taxes.

    6. Then suddenly, 3 giant hording polish armys appear from Permishyl (east poland) and siege my Cracow town which include 3 militias and all my 3 remaining Lords.

A 5 : 1 battle ends my campaign in bitter defeat!
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    @ Slon 80,

Thats weird...Rebels do not attack my settlements...

They just stand there and wait for attack

But I agree, they are a little too strong...

There is a little chance that I provoked this attack. I tried to move army which you get at the start, the one standing by the sea (some spears and two mounted seargants units), when rebels attacked me. I tried to escape but they attacked several times with different armies so all of my men who was still alive withdrawed to Frankfurt and I think rebels just went after them.
Now I will drag every unit I have from my other settlements and try to earn some military points by taking weaker forts so I could recruit seargant spearmen.
Also, I see the light at the end of the tunnel because I got Teutonic guild and having Halbbruder will give me much more fightning power.

I totaly forgot about "SGFNP--->Faction Overviews/Difficulty Levels". Would be nice to make this sticky because now it's quite hard to find.

Here's the link to HRE tips by 2-D Ron http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...59#post4474959. After reading this I'm looking forward to see Milan troops spreading democracy and freedom of speech all over my lands
