I played a drop-in with a player on the Lodi map yesterday. When I attacked across a river crossing away from the bridge, I was ambushed by 2 units of cavalry and line infantry each. There were one canon and one light infantry visible only before I charged. We were facing each other at the edge of the river banks. There are a road and some scattered trees on the other side.

But my question is: can cavalry and line infantry be completely hidden and invisible or the guy used some kind of a cheat code?

the road is parallele to the river with trees scattered. it was not like a forest. i have the same thing on my side and his howitzer was able to take good aim at my units. i mean normally even in forest we can see the unit flags unless your are light infantry which can pop up from a scrub of grass or something. maybe infantry but cavalry?

Depends on what kind of cavalry, I'm pretty sure Hussars can hide in scrub AND forest, and maybe other types of light cav. If the vegetation is thick enough, then infantry can hide in it too. Artillery is a different story, the unit description says that it can't hide, but often enough some units CAN hide given more cover. It sounds kinda iffy, and MIGHT be a cheat, but who knows really.

hmm ... maybe there were hussars after all. maybe i was just a bit pixxed off, needless to say I was licked hard. anyway, if you guys have a chance to play the Lodi map again, take a look at the crossing west of the town bridge.

    thanks!

Here is a more detail description

This is the view of my opponent. The artillery on the left was my target on high ground. The grass with a few trees is where his infantry and cav appear suddenly

Here is a closer look of the vegetation. Grass is average height with only a few trees.

Here is my point of view from the far bank. I was doing exactly like these guys and suddenly his cavs charged my out from behind the first row of houses and his infantry firing from behind those trees. ok might be possible for the infantry but where were the hussars came from?

if u actually have a battle in Lodi in the campaign does this map occur?

plus its not a quick battle cos its not small unit sizes
