    Default Optimization?

I just purchased E:TW, and I have to say that I am enjoying what I've done, so far, for the most part. However, I am experiencing quite a bit of lag, and whenever I have over 1,000 units on screen or am playing the Grand Campaign battle map, I feel like there's a bit of slowdown. Is there any method by which I can attain better performance with E:TW without sacrificing graphics? Are there any optimization settings, or graphics options that take up a lot of processes without contributing to the experience?

I have a pretty good card, but my processor is 2.66 Ghz Duo Core, and I'm without question not going to buy anything new for this computer for a long time, with the possible exception of some RAM.

    Thank you for your help!

read the troubleshoot thread on how to and what it gives you

and FYI there is a common slow down when in the campaign map, if your mid to end campaign, or if like me that don't have a powerful CPU.

the lag issues in the battlemap are also common specially when your playing with a large number of units, the card has to render more things, the cpu has to compute more things. he asked you for the dxdiag to give you more information on how to optimize your etw experience.

I recommend that you find the thread discover what it is and go take a look at the empire optimized mod

Thank you for your help, and I'll give you a point of reputation; however, I still want to know what a 'dxdiag' is.

Empire Optimized LightFinal (download Gloss and Normal packs only)

Empire Optimized Buildings (replacement Building and Fort Textures)

Empire Optimized Warpath and EAU (Optimized DLC Textures)

try thease packs. any better?, and dont forget to CCleaner and any system maintenance, defrag then install.

if you have had empires installed for a long time, and since added software i would de-install empires
defrag after cleaning the o/s, install empires then install mods....

(remember to download mods before cleaning up, nothing worse than file fragmentation to kill FPS.

My HD rating is 5.6 LOL.

I wonder if Blue Ray is faster?

    Idea!!
Thinking of copying the steam folder over to a blue ray disk, edit the reg, so empires will load from Blue ray

    to see any real benefits.....

    Anyhoo...........

Hope it goes well i it did for me, i still use it for this Rig, my old one was way old (8years)
let us know how you get on

    Kind regards

Thank you for the help; I've heard of Empire Optimized before, and I'll download it as soon as possible (the downloading website has a required wait time). As for the other processes, I purchased professional attention for my computer just two or three days ago, and defragmented my drive immediately afterward.
