According to imdb.com, Gates of Fire is in development with a projected release in 2011.
Here's hoping they make it true, that would be one of the manliest movies ever!

lol. Several projects have been "in the works." This isn't anything new. The last I heard George Clooney still own the rights to the book regarding a film version. I don't think anything has changed since then. He approached a couple studios and hadn't got anything started.
with the success of 300, its got peoples interest in the spartans peaked , so i it might actually get some money behind it this time around, who knows.
I for one have very little expectations from it after reading the book , i dont think there going to give it any proper credit.

They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say ****, it's raining!![]()
I would hope that if they did another movie about Spartans, it wouldn't involve Thermopylae again. A movie on the Peloponnesian War would be much more interesting in my opinion, or even a movie about Sparta's decline.
We already have a movie about Thermopylae. Find a different story.

That's the sad thing, though. Gates of Fire was going to be made and then up came 300 and the idea was shelved. It's sad too, because I think Gates of Fire would've been a billion times better than 300.
Anyways, they ought to look at Pressfield's other work. If you want Peloponnesian war then they could certainly make a movie based off of his book Tides of War, which is awesome. But Afghan Campaign could also make a great movie.
true.

A Battle of Marathon film would be nice. Small Greek force charges large Persian army, killing 6500 and routing them, while losing only 200 people in the process. Kinda sounds like one of my MTW: VI after action reports.
Seriously, Gates of Fire is the Thermopylae movie that should have been made. So much more potential than 300.
Yeah but at least Marathon would be about Athenians, and not those damn dirty Spartans.
Yeah, damn boy-lovers.

NO SPARTA.
