Default Updating ati drivers? Solution, but new problem- missing CCC?

Can anyone give me the steps to update my 5770's drivers? I just downloaded the suite that includes the drivers and ccc, i figured i'd update them both. I just don't want to mess something up by deleting something important

    Thanks and +rep

Just run the .exe and let it do the work for you. Once it runs, it pretty much does everything by itself. All you need to do is click "next" or "ok" a few times.

I've heard that you need to go into safe mode and totally wipe out the old drivers, though..

That's only necessary if you're installing drivers for a new card amd wiping out your old ones. If you're just updating your drivers, it's not necessary if you're just updating drivers.

As for your CCC problems, just reinstall the suite. That usually works, or sometimes even only a reboot is necessary.

Alright, so I used Driver Sweeper (i think) and got it all installed. But now I can't open CCC. I can right click the desktop and click on Open CCC, but nothing happens. Same if I try from the start menu. What's up?

edit: ccc is even listed under processes, but I still can't open it...

You really shouldn't have run driver sweeper especailly if your using an OS like Windows 7 as it can cause more problems then it solves (it's been known to delete windows basic vga drivers amongst other things) I would only ever recommend using it if you were having problems with the currant set of drivers and wanted to make sure they got removed.

Well, I upgraded to this 5770 at christmas from an old nvidia 9500, and so I figured I needed to wipe those nvidia drivers out anyways. But it's all in working order now, thanks and +rep
