Saxony. Very similar to Bavaria. Landlocked of course.

So, I endeavoured to obtain a port, with the intension of getting some sea trade in.

I had to dodge the Danish ships trying to stop me getting out of the Balticm which I do by making 3 or more merchantmen and then splitting them up in all directions, so that the Danes can only take out one at a time. Then take a spot on those trade nodes and wait for some dosh to roll in.

    Nothing happens !

I can only surmise that it's the fact that my capital is still landlocked, even though I have a port. Presumably then, I guess you have to have a direct route into your capital via a port. I suppose thats fair enough, but a bit harsh if you have bust a gut to get to the coast and built ships to no apparent purpose.

It means to get a direct trade route through to Dresden I would have to take Brandenburg., which if course belongs to Prussia. No chance !

Having made that point Prussia is a trade partner of mine so shouldn't they let my trade through their territory ?

What do we all think ?

It would certainly be nice if trade routes could travel through allied territories if you didn't have a direct route, but it's an unlikely feature since the campaign isn't designed with those small nations in mind. However, being able to change your capitol city would fix that issue while also offering strategic value. Probably place a limit on it, for example only being able to switch every few years or something.

Yes I'd like to be able to change Capitol cities too.

I'm wondering if the only possible way of getting trade from sea routes is to ditch your capitol by picking a fight with someone, losing your capitol and forcing the game to pick another one.

Would losing your capitol end the game though ? Even though you had another region ?

If NTW works like ETW, then that should work fine.
