Well, um... Guard mode(for me) is very usefull, it helps my archers and spearmen stay in position when attacked and they won't pursue the enemy when they rout them.
Guard mode can really turn the tide of battle and for my troops, it's always on and it will always BE on![]()
Cool thanks, i find it especially useful if your ifantry i inferior so tht they can hold up enemy troops while cav goes for the h&a
well, it depends if you want to keep your perfectly laid formation perfect![]()
Its very usefull for skirmish troops and phalanx formations but for swordsmen it is quite a hindrance seeing as your swordsmen will never take the initiative, such as attacking the flanks of units in guard mode like phalanxes. its also useful for cav in some situations(EG Catabox, Wedgie) of which the existance is not known to most of you.
guard mode isnt very useful in online play. your troops just stand there and its really easy for them to get surrounded and flanked. only when you're recieveing a massed cavalry charge... but even then...
Hi there.
Depending on the situation, I switches it on and off. If I am playing as a phalanx heavy nation I tend to keep it on, but playing as Romans, using legions, I switch it off, since legionaries fight more coherent, all though not always holding formation, if they are allowed to move around.
