    Default Generals getting killed

    Hi all!

One of my biggest qualms about this game so far has been that generals (famous ones) die too easily early on in the game which makes the later part of the game extremely bland.

For example, I just started up a France campaign yesterday and within 20 turns, Kutuzov was killed, Bernadotte was killed, Massena was killed and etc. Even if I play cautiously, the enemy ends up getting their famous generals killed really early on in the game!

So I wanted to ask, is there a way to mod this so everyone is like Napoleon? Or rather, is there a way to prevent generals deaths for all? I just don't want to continue playing a game in which 1810 is a war between unheard of generals.

For those wondering what my other things I don't like so far are: wrong Napoleon's avatar on GC for France, too many replicated scholars (had 2 Hegels for example), no column formation, no way to organize mutual supporting corps on the campaign map, trees not getting knocked down or burning forests, and etc.

Just for the record, I do think NTW has been one of the best TW-s out there...

    try this mod http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=338905

reduces spys so the important generals will rarely be assasinated

also one there that removes their assasination ability all together, which i think i will try

    Thanks GTFO!
This looks cool. However, most of my generals deaths have been on the battlefield...haven't encountered any assassinations yet...

Yeah suicidal generals charging still seems to be a serious problem.

Killed by spies or in battles?

If in battles, try not to autosolve if you want to reduce the chance to loose your importance general. During battles, move them from left to right even though you are pretty busy directing your fight. As for enemy generals killed, pitty them.

For spies, CA should tweek back a little bit their chance. How can you killed a general so easily within an marching army, let alone a strong garrison in a city.

Since generals give morale-boosting bonuses, I think the AI's aggressive use of generals is mainly because they're trying to boost morale in critical areas.

For me at least, the AI general always goes to where the fighting is thickest/retreating is the worst. And that's generally the best place to die!
Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:

The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.

The AI general will leave his entire army and try to attack any light infantry on the wings. Please refer to my suicide general thread. Its my biggest complaint with the game along with the Pickett's charge of defending infantry straight towards human artillery where they are quickly turned into hamburger.

The smoking end of an Unicorn gun is the most critical area for a general? News to me...

Shoot coward! You are only going to kill a man!
