I noticed a Swedish army hangs out in Mecklenburg as if it's guarding it, but it's not listed as an Ally of each other. What is going on here?

    This!

Seriously though, it's a shame that Sweden has been so degraded in N:TW. Smallest unitlist, not playable, half the country gone....my only complaint with the game this far!

Yeah I felt the same way about that Swedish army that sat in Meckleburg, I almost felt like it was wasting my time. I declared war on Sweden and dealt with the issue.

Well, in my french campaign they started raiding my towns as soon as I got to Berlin, but they were then easily dealt with.

I think Sweden had a province there, but it was a small one and thay havent included that region in the game, so a Swedish army just stands there.

Yes, the Swedish army are most probably troops from Swedish Pomerania, who took part in the 3rd Coalition war. the story is as follows ........

"In November 1805, a combined force of British, Russian and Swedish troops were sent to liberate French-held Hanover. However, in December 1805, after the battle of Austerlitz, the British and the Russian troops evacuated Hanover leaving a small Swedish force alone . In April 1806, Prussia, Napoleon’s new ally, forced Swedes to retreat from Hanoverian territory. On November, 1806 Swedish troops were caught between the advancing French troops and Prussians in Lübeck (now coalition members) and part of them surrendered to the French. The French army began an offensive towards Swedish Pomerania and besieged Stralsund on 15 January 1807. The Swedes were reinforced the 1 April and defeated the 15,000 men strong French army. On 18 April 1807, France and Sweden agreed a cease-fire according to which French were to leave Pomerania. However, the Swedish government refused to join the Continental System and denounced the armistice under the influence of British diplomacy on 8 July 1807." The Swedish Royal House today is decended from one of Napoleon's marshals ,Bernadotte. He abandoned Napoleon and became king of Sweden,Karl Johan. He was commanding the Swedes when the French attempted to recapture Berlin in 1813.
