Generals makeing lucky escapes

have you ever had one of these it's annoying
once as Russia i ambushed Napoleon with Russia in Austria(we both has full stacks) because i knew he was coming and all i had was militia but i couldn't send a army from Moscow fast enough
so the ambush was successful i made two large lines so that i could box in on them and that's what i did so napoleons inside the square and i was thinking napoleons dead yay but he bolts to my line through my line and gets out with 2 men so i make two lines of them turn around and shot him they both shoot and 1 units left which was napoleon
only 39 of the original army survived
im trying to ask have this happend to you a generals makes a miracle escape?

I had that happen when I was fighting a battle against the Mamelukes, the general tried to make a dash for the exit, but I sent my chasseures a cheval after him and shot him down at the border

he was so close yet so far
by the way wasn't that a unlucky escape?
