help with speakers
hi. i have both surround sound speakers and surround sound headphones and i can plug them both in at once but when i do i only get some sound in the one plugged into the headphone jack. the headphones only get sound in one hear and the speakers only get some noises. dose anyone know how to fix this? i do also have a HDMI conected monitor with a SS headphone jack so if i can get sound going through both the HDMI and mobo speaker port it would be great. im using windows 7. anyone got any ideas? thanks

Re: help with speakers
It sounds to me your computer might not support surround sound specify your speakers, soundcard and how you have your set up if you have it set to stero you usually get this go to control panel and change setup in sound options if you can't it might not be supported.

Re: help with speakers
ok thanks. its just the mobo sound card. i can get suround sound in one at a time but not both at the same time. the one in the back is always suround sound and the one plugged into the jack at the front isnt in suround sound. all i can find for settings are, wel not much. a screen where you can set what is the default but not do much else.

Re: help with speakers
are you using vista or XP?
for me I'm using a 7.1 setup and i have Realtek drivers installed but i can change my setup using windows by going to the following using Vista.
Control panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound, then rick click speakers and then configure speakers and you should hopefully see the options for either:
- Stereo
- Quadraphonic
- 5.1
- 7.1
Stereo and Quadraphonic are best suited for music, having surround sound on with music sounds awful.
Suggestion would be like me use your speakers Amplifier to preset the settings and have the control panel sound adjustment as Quadraphonic; Quadraphonic utilizes all the speakers and the amplifier will hopefully set the DS values for each speaker when surround sound is on.

Re: help with speakers
im using windows 7. i see what you mean there and messed around a bit. it has a 'test' section where you click on each speaker and it makes a noise. the headphones where fine plugged into the main port but only played front left/front right when plugged in to the headphone jack. the speakers where also fine in the main jack but only played the front-left noise regardless of setup in the other one.
