    Default AI....yeah right

I am playing Austria campaign, and outside Prague a stack of rebels appeared......as it turns out they attacked me the next turn while I had just three unit, and to make it worse two militia and one line infantry.

What I did is place all of them in buildings and than.......well thats pretty much it.

    This is the result

So your point is being outnumbered 3:1 but in a heavily fortified position you won?

If the AI didn't have cannons or light infantry what did you expect it to do

I don't know which houses you have in your version of NTW, but the ones in mine are made of paper mache and only take a few cannon shots to crumble. The fact that the AI didn't win in this scenario is surprising, but I'm willing to chalk it up as an exception.

Indeed. I have experienced such attacks, and using buildings have managed to kill a fair few of the attackers, that is, before their cannons reduce said buildings to dust and corpses.

The OP got lucky, it would seem.

The vulnerability of any structure is going to depend to a large degree on its construction. Wood buildings will go down fast and easy, stone buildings not so much.

In the words of a famous WW1 British general.. who's name escapes me.. or was it a doctorine?.. hmm.. anyway you need a ratio of 5:1 attackers:defenders to have any chance of taking out entranched mofo's... this is a beautiful tactic. which has saved my sweet lil ass many a time in MP.. well just the once... but I've only had 2 battles online.

Wow thats worse than empire if they had cannon. In ETW, the cannons would have destroyed the buildings.

What battle difficulty was this on?

Buildings are a bit to weak, if they were as weak as NTWs waterloo would have been very different...

I had the Beduins attack me one, with their camel-only armies.
Put my three militia in a building, the camels run around it and get shot.
    Exploit, I know.

I've used this same thing in an ETW battle when attacked by Native Americans that were all on horseback and were the melee as opposed to missile type. Too bad for them they apparently spent their entire lives on horseback and had no idea how to dismount!

I've had the AI move cannon to blast me in a building, so it may be some strange pathfinding issue that it decided the route it wanted to take was blocked, so why bother moving?
Don't blame me, I voted for Pedro!

Well they were shooting at me and destroyed one building (town hall)...I got my army out of that one before they comlely destroyed it and moved right next to the building my onthe unit was in...... they only managed a couple of shots to this building and didnt want to move their cannons....

While the AI is certainly lackin certain respects, this is not the best example you could have given. Furthermore, this is the best AI to date from TW game.

RTW's AI was a joke before Darth and Sinuhet got their hands on its. Shogun is a decade old, so forgive me if I don't recall that much of it. Medieval II Ai was...lacking at best.

NTW so far the only TW game where the AI has put up a decent fight. It maintains a decent shoot line, flanks with cavalry, and actually seems to know the difference between skirmishers and Line Infantry.

Is it perfect? No. Can it ever even hope to win on even terms? Probably not, but it is far better than anything CA has put out for quite a few releases.

Romes AI was the best in TW series if I am not mistaken

Shogun's and Medieval's very close second

And I ment Medieval not Medieval II which was the crapiest AI IMHO (this is vanilla offcourse.....later mods made it my favourite TW ......after Shogun)
