I'm hoping it will be D9 but it will probably be Avatar. I haven't seen THL but I hear it's good.

Avatar. Haven't seen it, ain't too keen to do so either. But it's so hyped that it'll probably win. (The hype is part of the reason that I don't wanna see it....)
Only movies I've seen on that list is D9 and "Up" by Pixar, and between those two, I'd say Up, 'cause that's one great movie So is D9, but not that good. It won't win this award though, but it should win for best animated feature. And best original score better go to Michael Giacchino for his outstanding work with "Up". I seriously cannot see why he shouldn't get that one, only "threat" would be Hans Zimmer for "Sherlock Holmes"....
Avatar because everyone loves flashy effects with a rip off storyline.
Otherwise I'd love IG or D9 to win.
Supporter of Facial Hair for extra Manliness.
I hope it's A Serious Man, though I doubt it'll win. I haven't been so impressed by a movie in a long time. They won't give the Coens another Oscar. I wish they hadn't given it to No Country for Old Men (what a terrible film).

Up in the Air is meant to be terrible. I think Avatar, and I wouldn't mind it either.
Hum, not if veterans have a say in this:

According to the essay, it seems this one is just as unrealistic as other war movies, just in another way.
Personally, I think it will be Avatar, for reasons already given by others.

A Serious Man. That's a brilliant movie, none of that CGI crap.

I believe Avatar will probably win, although I think Up in the Air or Hurt Locker should win.
Personally, I don't care if a war movie is a little off the mark regarding uniforms and vehicles, its about the story and characters. If I want a keen eye on detail for historical accuracy I'll watch a documentary.
Under the Patronage of Lord Condormanius
Avatar will win all of the special effects awards, but not Best Picture. It will likely be Hurt Locker, D9, or A Serious Man. Movies with sociological critiques usually win. Check out the past few Best Pictures:
Slumdog Millionaire
No Country for Old Men
The Departed
Crash
Million Dollar Baby
skip LOTR
Chicago

Heir to Noble Savage in the Imperial House of Wilpuri
Hoping for D9, expecting Avatar to win though.![]()
They could give it to IB since Tarantino has never won one.
