Sprites!

I just noticed this today, I'm getting sprites when I zoom out, I don't know if this is caused by the new Nvidia drivers, or what.

My specs are Q9400 @3.2, 4 gig corsair dominator @1066 7.6.6.18, 2 8800gt's 20%~OC SLI.

I find it weird because I'll have most of my settings on ultra and it's popping sprites when I'm at 55 FPS, I could see if it was slowing down or something; I've tried every configuration through the in game options Max AF, turning off effects here something there...nothing seems to stop it.

Have you tried no overclocking your cards? Disable SLI? Disable AA?

Knowing you, you already have but throw it out there just in case.

I haven't tried turning off SLI because it seems counter intuitive, I guess I'll give that a go.

The only rewason I said it is all the talk about it at .com. Also did you istall 196.75 that was just released in the last couple of days? It supposed ot fix some things with Napoleon.

Yes I got it yesterday, I put NTW on a single GPU and it was worse...I never noticed it until today, the only thing I can think is I've been lowering my core voltages to get my temps down...it's stable, but that's the only thing I've changed since yesterday when it was fine. I'm 99% sure that has nothing to do with it.

There are threads about sprites there? I never go there, it's such a ghetto forum, not people etc...the design.

No, that sounds like artifacts to me, my gpu temps are fine.

I'm gonna mess around with it after class. It's infuriating.

It's really bad, I was drunk last night so maybe I didn't notice it. It's here with a fiery vengeance today though, it's basically unplayable as they switch when I barely pull away. Half the time they won't even deign to use a 2 frame animation loop and will just skate in cardboard cutout glory.

Rollback the driver to the 1/11/10 drivers and it's still the same. There are several threads regarding this with ETW and some mods that correct it, but that's another game unfortunately.

I don't know, I'm looking at games online and it looks like mine, I just never noticed it before because I was too busy moving the camera around etc. Now that I know about it I can't help but notice it.

Besides that, I've already filled up their Graveyard when Kingdoms 1.5 was supposed to be released. Fill up the origial thread with screenshots. That should keep the fire burning.

I have been hearing more reports now of some people experiencing overheating problems on their graphics cards with the new nVidia drivers. Something weird going on with the fans not ramping up to higher speed when the card gets hot. Some of the symptoms of a overheating card are graphic glitches. You may want to do a check on the temp of your GPU during play and see if it's getting too hot.

Of course, this isn't happening with everyone, just some people, so that might not be the issue here.

It's a common (I know now) problem with it switching the lod of the models, but it is happening too soon and the 4th level models are absolute garbage. There is simply no way to manage it and it is not related to specific hardware configurations.

I saw some guy post pics in a thread of mine and his machine was very impressive, just past his beautiful 3d models were....a marching army of sprites.

I'm not having overheating or artifacting, I already said that.

As one poster in Empire's thread pointed out four LODs work okay on a monitor as old as mine. The new monitors and the resolution that can be achieved, the game needs seven or eight LODs. Too bad CA has locked that part from modders other than shuffling them in the text files.

there is actually a mod for that for etw, now for ntw put some ''incentives'' mafia style in those guys that they come up with something for it, he simply disabled the 4 lod or something

come on people!! Its how the engine work. always has been. everyone got the sprites. there´s no magic fix for it. live with it or let it go....and all you moderators or whatever stop giving everyone false hope about this ..

Read the Bug Report thread and follow the link. Read number 5 when you get there. Maybe a cold chance Hell, but there is a chance, so one has to hope.
