Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Needless to say the ensuing battle didn't last very long.

I've never seen a deploment area like this... ever!

Anyone else seen anything like this in Napoleon, or in any other total war game for that matter, or is this a new thing?

    ps, seiges don't count

I thought it might have been an ambush, but I was pretty sure the AI attacked me. I guess it didn't

Man I love ambushes! Closing in on an enemy from both sides! If only this was in ETW then I could recreate that scene from Last of the Mohicans...

I ambushed Napoleon like this once, only problem being that I had had one depleted unit of Fencibles and a general, against his army of old guards/young guards/DLC Units/grenadiers and fusiliers.
    Bitter is the wind tonight,
it stirs up the white-waved sea.
I do not fear the coursing of the Irish sea
by the fierce warriors of Lothlind.

I had a unit of dragoons get caught in one of those the other day, I took out his dragoons and battery then let his infantry chase me me around for an hour, got an Heroic Win out of it...my initial plan was to hit the retreat button and leave after destroying his artillery but it won't give you that option

Ambush very handy at taking out an unexpecting enemy...

I've never fought an ambush like this. When the battle starts, is the enemy facing outward at you, deployed for battle, or do they have all their arty unlimbered and are preplaced in more of a travel column arrangement?

Do you actually get to ambush them, or just start a battle having already surrounded them?
    Still playing Napoleon:TW

basically if your ambushing you can deploy like normal in the blue area, if you are ambushed your army is in a column in the red area and you have no time to deploy.

edit: so if your ambushed your probably going to take some heavy losses if your enemy consolidates well, against the AI unless your on 1:1 troop numbers you have a decent chance of still winning.
