Default Napoleon Total War: Graphical Issues/Queries

    Hey all,

My PC specs first, to get them out of the way haha:

    Windows Vista 32bit Home Premium
    Nvidia GeForce 8800GT (512mb)
Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 (2.4GHz)
    4GB RAM

Well, my actual questions involve the potential. The potential of what my system can do. Since on Empire, I could make it so that the uniforms are crisp in detail, on here, I have a perfectionist issue it seems:

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2247/ntwexample.jpg <---------- Link to an example.

My Napoleon settings are FULLY maxed, everything, at 1680x1050 resolution, my Empire is not, but I suspect also that the DMUC mod for Empire has Empire Optimised built in, I am most likely wrong.

I am just confused why, even at a acceptable FPS, Napoleon lacks sharp uniform and environmental details as I would like it.
Id like some discussion on this part, even if I am being silly.

EDIT : Are my settings TOO high? As in the AA settings and such, not of the FPS.

Do you have bloom on? Post a screen of your graphic settings.

Bloom is on, everything is on my friend. AA is at x16, everything is at its highest possible.

Bloom will make your guys "fuzzy".

That's more AA than you need.

Does the over-setting of AA make it more fuzzy.

Thank you for the info so far, going to test it now to make sure.

EDIT: Heres some rep for you.

    Another EDIT :

    Sorry, AA is at x8

    AF is at x16

Ronin, it cant be, looks the same, I hate it! The uniforms should be all crisp, theres no way my card is that old and rubbish that it cannot do that, its a very decent card from where I stand!

AF and AA too high doesnt make it worse does it?

Newest driver was around the time ME2 came out (an immense game), I suppose one might come out soon, I could tweak settings in my Nvidia controll panel, but I dont know which ones to alter :'(

What the hell, how can you run napoleon maxed on that system? I have an i7 920, 6 gigs of ram and a facotry overclocked 4890 with 1 gig clock and 1 gig memory and i cant set unit detail to ultra without a horrible drop in fps in large melees. This system would be about a 1/3 more powerful than yours roughly. Im suprised you can run every maxed, it seems impossible on that system, not thats its bad or anything but napoleon is very demanding.

Maybe your standards are just too high concerning the unit detail, i find them decent, any more detail and youd have to lower other settings to get decent fps.
Oh ye one more thing, winter in total war games is always an eye sore, especially in empire and napoleon, i find the graphics go back a few years as soon as winter hits.

Another thing, max AF to x16 if you can, this will make more distant land textures look much sharper, its pretty ughly without it.
2x AA is needed at least, otherwise buildings and bayonets will be an eyesore as well.

If you have only tested the graphics detail on that winter map i suggest you try a summer battle, in alot of games these days its the lighting which makes a much prettier image than the textures used.

    New drivers came out yesterday.

1 8800gt isn't very good, but everything would look good on a screenshot, just slow fps.

It looks fine but bloomy to me, try lowered AF to trilinear and aa to 2 for a less smooth look.

You might also want to consider a mild overclock on that cpu, you can hit 3.0 pretty easy of your board is any good. It will help with FPS.
