jaM Love this mod I’m using version 2 but did notice when I was playing a custom battle that one of the French regiments planted stakes
It is working ok because the Grenadiers now have the same numbers in my case 1.25 = 200 as line infantry. Keep up the good work

What about reducing a bit cannister range? Cannons seem to be too lethal at close...

actually canister had much longer range than it is in game.. but i'm thinking about some reduction in pellet numbers, or decrease lethality of pellets.. that should reduce their damage a little...

    Thanks JaM!!!

downloading asap. This should be just what I was looking for to save the game for me!

Yes it works with other mods, I have tried it. At the same time it can cause some funny problems unless you re-sizes your troops. I tried this mod with others and found I had like 1200+ line troops. This would be cool if I could spread them out a lot more, but no it will not let you do that. I had 10 line deep formations. It did not look right, so I had to reset the preferance setting to like .75 to get it down to 300 line troops.

You could probably incorporate the mod released earlier for the no tracers, given permission of course, that might save you some work. Sounds great though, will upload and try it out, thank you for all your work.

Hey JaM- been playing some one on one line infantry battles to see what the musket fire is like.

Is there any way to mod 2 ranks firing a more uniform volley? Like the mass fire used in ETW, but with the guys in the back of a deep formation unable to fire without hitting the guys in the front ranks. The problem that I'm finding with the current 'skirmish drill' that line units have is that I can never employ the tactic of a well timed close range volley.

I understand that after one or two real volleys, battles could devolve into just rolling fire. But even if I turn off fire at will and order my unit to fire at the enemy, I can't really make a real 'volley' as there is a lot of time between the first and last shot.

Thanks for all the hard work! I loved Empire Realism and I think you're on track to make NTW a more accurate representation of Napoleonic warfare!

FDA tested and approved. seemed compatiabile with the mods I already have running, no tracer mod/reduced movement mod/BG's sound mod for drum and fife. I did do a custom naval battle, did freeze up during it (about mid way through). Lol you weren't kidding, man was pounding on thier ships for quite ahwhile before I started to see some damage...turned to close in grap shot/board to finally resolve everything. Very nice though.

Maybe it was just me or something but I did a quick start in the Napoleons "grand" campaign and I didn't see the starting grenadiers with the scary attribute. The old guard had it still so I know it is there. Otherwise I like how this is shaping up. Have to try a naval battle now and see how it plays with the mod.

Lord_Lotz: it is possible to do that if you hold your fire manually and order them when enemy is closer, entire unit will fire massive volley. I use it quite often in my battles especially against cavalry charges.. i just wait until they are in the middle of my musket range and then I press fire at will... Thing is AI is checking its max range against enemy, so they almost always stop at max range for first salvo with Infantry.

Cartras: yes, i didnt add it in 0.2 but will add it in 0.3. i needed some time to rethink if they should be comparable to Old Guard in that area..

Are you going to increase the units number in the next version ? I know that this could easily be achieved by changing the units multiplier, but the cannons in the artilery will remain the same, so they won't have that effect on the game.

Well, the Old Guard has, or should have, better stats across the board, plus they also inspire other units. The Young Guard would be the kid brother and grenadiers the ugly step-child, ie non-inspiring, still scary and slightly worse but relatively good melee stats. Sound about right?

Thanks for prompt reply and support Jam

Another issue: Don't you think with the increasing of chaussers's (and their similar) men per unit now light infantry is a bit unusuful and unattractive? Maybe you could add some man or rise up some stats for them, imho

    pS

"The old guard" has both "scare " and "inspire" skill so it remain a better unit than grenadiers with "scare ability", maybe it could be a comparison issue with the "young guard".

all light infantry should be buffed up to 160 men per unit (without multiplier) only skirmishers are low on numbers but that is due to their special status - mostly they have very accurate rifles, have long range, so if they have same amount of men as line infantry, they would be super-killers. Historically they formed small detachments assigned to other regiments (British Rifles)...

scare enemy to all grenadiers is a go for v0.3

Yes I mean skirmishers for light infantry sorry. My point: Chaussers (light infantry) now have double men than skirmishers, same range (100) they cost almost the same and have only 5 accuracy point less than skirmishers... so imho skirmishers in a custom or a multiplyaer battle coudl be unattractive

I see, I plan to up them a little in next ver. They will be considered specialist class, so their stats will be like light inf with 5-6 exp chevrons, to model their "specialized veteran" status..
Same with other units as well - Guard Infantry will be comparable to high experience LIne Infantry, same with Grenadiers and Guard Grenadiers, etc..

I think it's a good idea to increase the number of light infantry unit twice as they were.
In napoleonic era light infantry played a much more important role than they did in ETW time, and skirmish line was the key to many of Napoleon's early victories. Jena is such an example.

and not just that - Light infantry was formed into independent regiments, not just companies of line regiments... same with Grenadiers, they were important part of every army!

Yes, and the Imperial Guard actually consisted of Grenadier regiments and Chausseur regiments.
In current versions of NTW the Guard (Old and Young) are just only grenadier units. Hope later mods to correct this.
