    Default RTR How many versions?

Hi guys I'm looking at downloading this mod as it seems to be the poeples choice with the the 2009 modding awards - just one question: is RTR just one mod/one download or are their different campaign mods that you have download and play seperatley? if there are individul campaigns donloads is there one large campaign download?
    Thanks

FOE is a complete mod for download and is fantastic.

Also try RTR Platinum and the ExRM version.

IMO all the mods are amazing and offer some thing slightly different in each one.
The amount of detail is astounding and gameplay varies from challenging to damn hard depending on your settings.

    Enjoy

    Welcome to the RTR Forums!
    Long Answer:
Your question is sort of hard to answer. RTR has been around since shortly after RTW was released. It has come a long way since then. So the long answer is yes, their are several version's of RTR. People have added on to these different versions also (Such as ExRM, Imperator etc.). If you spend some time navigating and reading through the sub-forums, you will get a better idea of what I am talking about.

When the current team started work on RTRVII they wanted to make a lot of improvements to the game. These improvements would take a long time to get made, tested and released. Instead of having An eager community waiting years for the mod (meanwhile people losing interest) they decided to release campaigns as they worked on the big project. As you've seen we have The Iberian Conflict (TiC) and Fate of Empires (FoE).

    Short Answer:
The current release is RTRVII:FoE. When you install it, you also get TiC and a nifty launcher that makes it easier to edit preferences and choose which mod to run (it has a bar you can type in the folder of the mod you wish to play). RTRVII is "Modfoldered" which means that it doesn't tamper with your original RTW files, Thus allowing you to have multiple mods installed without conflicting with each other.

Good answer, Freshmaker, but one point: although the launcher gives the option to launch TIC, you'll have to install it yourself because it isn't included in the FOE download.

    Further:

Like Freshmaker said there are the newest RTR releases, called VII, on which we're working now. I'd definately recommend them to you, because each of them has some special parts that you won't find in other mods.

    • TIC is a heavily scripted campaign, in which you'll have to conquer Iberia in 80 years as Hamilcar Barca. A real challenge!
    • FOE is a mod with various new aspects, including Mini-Regions, a Big map centered around the western Mediteranian and cool high-def units. This is the latest version, you should try that if you'd like to play a modern long campaign.
    • RTR VII is being worked on atm, and will be the VII full release.

Besides this, we've got an older version called RTR Platinum 1.9. This mod spans from brittain to India, and offers nice gameplay. However, I myself prefer the VII releases for they're more challenging.

It's a scripted campaign if you play as Carthage. If you play as Celtiberia, then it's not so heavily scripted

This is the one you meant which won all those awards

Not for the player. But it's still scripted, isn't it?
