    Icon4 GFX card question / Empire 1.6

So I might re-install Empire whenever 1.6 is released (soon-ish, presumably); currently I'm running an 8600 GTS which won't let me run the game past Medium (the options are greyed out) because my 9800 GT burnt out last week. That ran everything fine on High.

By the way, I run a Q6600 Intel quad core with 6GB DDR2.

My 8600 is only 256MB but I'm planning to buy a new card in a couple of weeks. I don't want to be spending much more than £100 so I was planning on getting a 1GB GTS 250 which I've seen on Amazon for £109. From what I've read they're basically a faster, slightly cooler-running version of the 9800 GTX+ but I'm no expert so I dunno.

Either way I just wondered if anyone had any advice? I'd rather stick to nVidia than get a Radeon (never really got on with them tbh) and the 250 seems to have pretty decent reviews overall.

I'm hoping that 1.6 fixes Empire so far as the extent of the broken code will let it. I then look forward to trying the game again. At this juncture I have no plans to buy Napoléon, although I may buy the next game in the series if it's any good and the period interests me.

I'm open to all reasonable offers (in terms of price/delivery) for the nVidia 200 series xD

    Thanks!

If you decide to buy another card, and if that burns out,

    on your third card try

    Empire Optimized.

Just Download the Gloss and Normal packs, these packs will try to help out on Overheating, issues.

Also download the DLCKZ for optimized DLC packs.

    Kind Regards
