Well, in my Britain CotC game I conducted an epic invasion of France, Spain and Italy simultaneously with full stacks after years of turtling for cash.

As of now, I have all of Spain, all of France, all of Italy, Greece, Meditteranean (sp?) and most of W. Europe conquered back from the French. I have now begun the push East to wipe the French out for good. So far, I've just passed what used to be the Prussian homeland.

When I first landed in France and took Paris, Napoleon appeared a few turns later with a full stack to try and kick me out, but I defeated him due to my numerous 20 unit Foot Regiment stacks. It has been 2 years now. I haven't seen him at all. If you capture Paris, does Napoleon just not respawn when you wound him? I was thinking he might be in Poland fighting Russia but I've spammed the area with spies and haven't found him. What gives?

I've sent him back to Paris wounded 3 times now. I'm not sure how many lives he has.

He eats cats. One every day. Every cat adds 9 lives...

When you wing him, he goes away for a few turns and shows up at the French capital. Wherever the new French capital is, that's probably where he is (unless the AI winged him as well).

odd. Napoleon is going on a rampage in my Russian campaign. He seems to like to fight in Germany the most. I have not ever seen him near Spain or Britain.

    @ Jihada

Thing is, I took Paris. And ever since I defeated him post-capture I haven't seen him since. I would say he could have been exiled to Corsica (which I own) or St. Helena but...

When I get further East towards Russia and I whittle France down to its last strongholds, I'll see if the Old Enemy makes one last fight against me.

    @ Daria

At the rate I'm sweeping across Europe, I wouldn't blame him. I know its harder to steamroll, but when you have at least 400,000 in your coffers every turn, with about 30,000 coming in each turn, its impossible not to spam huge armies. So far, I have 7 full 20 stack armies ravaging Europe. I will find Napoleon.

lots of trade nodes? i think those nodes definitively need a nerf. you can make ridiculous money from them.

Exactly. When you take out Spain and France's access to the Med, you have about 12 trade nodes all to yourself, plus the 4 to the N. West of Britain.

The money I make off these is madness. I have so much cash I can Declare War, capture a settlement then sign a Peace Treaty (supported by at least 20,000 cash) and alls well. I even got France to be my ally at one point simply cause I had so much cash to throw at them. I agree with you about the nodes, they give you far too much cash and have let me walk over Europe.

playing on Hard. I can't see difficulty setting altering the massive amounts you can get from trade nodes.

Sorry about the mistake about Napoleon's exile locations. He was born on Corsica was he not?

And yes, I'm on Hard/Hard. It makes no difference, once you control all the Med + N. African trade nodes you get about 30-40,000 a turn once you fill the nodes with ships. I simply waited a few turns till I had 300,000 then began my sweep East across Europe.

So basically, you exploited a setting in the game and made more $$ than was concievably possible historically. Perhaps it's amusing just to see how the AI responds or to point out the absurdity but if you are enjoying that type of play I'd couldn't join you on that one because I'd find it quite boring and no challenge.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm very glad the AI isn't designed to retaliate against that sort of game plan, just because it'd be insane for everybody who didn't do it. I mean sure it's effective, but it just feels a bit stale to isolate the flaws in an AI and drive a truck through them.
