Default Can you cause revoultions in other factions?

fighting as GB (Rule Britannia), my favourite past time is meddling with other factions in every way possible without getting openly involved (like financially helping one nation who is struggling, or purchasing territory off one nation only to give it to their enemy!)

I'm fighting the French Royalists (secretly), and I want to weaken them a bit first before going to war by, hopefully, sowing the seeds of revolution in Paris (Vive la Revolution!). Distracted, i can hopefully blitz through France and Alsace-Llorraine, knocking the french quickly and effectively (and yes my army is big enough to keep them in order)

However I can't seem to cause them to revolt, so is it actually possible for the AI to have revoultions? And if so, how? I am currently using rakes to destroy all happiness buildings, leaving their schools untouched. Is there anything else I can do?

the best thing is to convert their population from catholizism to protestantism... once you hit the 50%+ mark a revolution is only a matter of time combined with your other actions. i had a couple of successful revolutions in territories which had a different starting religion than my nation... BUT i never tried it successfully in a main faction capitol area like france or England, just some second grade provinces in India, or eastern europe, where the conversion was rather fast too...
