They look cool, like I have said in another threads, these units will likely to be released in DLC.
Hmmm. Come to think of it, where are the beards?....surely there were manly men during this timeline?
1, 2 and 3 = sneak peek for DLC. No, Ascarona, they're not in the present game but I guess they're already done that's why CA could show them. This is Marketing. SEGA is just waiting for the right timing to release the 1st DLC.
4 = main russian officer, all units. Why point this out?
the brunswick units are necessary in the campaign.
In response to "where are the beards," in Napoleon's army there were grooming standards for different units. Hussars had a moustache and pig tails for instance. Sappers had bears. The Old Guard had moustaches and earrings. Ect. I'm not sure about all the other armies and so forth, but at least for the French army growing a beard wasn't just something an average soldier could do.
"Compared to war, all other forms of human endeavor shrink to insignificance."

That is right, except (as It was noted) for the Sappers. Even today the Sappers / Engineers of the French Foreign Legion carry the tradition of wearing a beard, but they're the onely ones.
For the rest = the mustache was overly popular in all Europe (esp. Prussia) but not in Britain. See the ETW thread about beards & mustaches (Historical section)
Note that BIG mustaches & sideburns were the mark of Veterans.
