    Default Dear Old Saint John,

Won't you kindly tell your guild to offer to build a chapter house in one of my cities? It's turn 60 now with three crusades already passed. I would think you'd like to help your Templar brethren but you remain oddly silent. I know those Hospitaller knights would be of great help to our cause.

I played a previous Templar game in which you came to me withing the first twenty turns. There hadn't even been a crusade. Is there some trigger involved in getting your guild offer or is it all random?

    Sincerely,
    The Knights Templar

If you create lots of crusade armies, recruit lots of hospitallers, declare war on muslims, have high chivalry governors in a settlement, and the neighboring region is more than 50% Muslim, you'll probably be offered these in many of your settlements. I actually got the HQ fairly quickly, due mostly in part with creating atleast 3 to 4 crusade armies per crusade (effectively 75-100 guild points in all your settlements), maintained high chivalry governors in the settlements, and the hospitallers were my best early cavalry/infantry available, so I trained a ton of them. I got my first one the same turn I joined the first crusade.

I ended up getting these in Diyarbakir, Antioch (HQ), Damascus and Gaza. The game has been asking me to put one in Adana, but I don't want one there.

Awesome, 4th crusade is coming up and it looks like my entire family line is going.

For some reason I was thinking Hospitallers were specific to SS. Never got around to playing the crusades campaign

You should have been offered guilds quite a few times already. As far as I remember, the only way to loose points for them is to abandon crusades. And then you'll simply loose the ammount of points joining the Crusade provided you with, so your governors and the other triggers should still work. Weird.

After turn 25 guilds lose 1 point per turn, and you only get the points for governor if Chivalry is 5 or higher, so depending on how long it's been, it's possible to lose points before you hit the threshold to be offered the hospitaller chapter house. If you only create one crusade army, you won't generate a lot of points. When I go on crusade, I really go on crusade, even if it's next door

Also, according to the building browser, you require a minor city or fortress to gain a guild which makes Antioch, Jerusalem, Cairo and Baghdad the only cities in and around the Templars start position off the start that can possibly get a guild (in early campaign). If you don't got one of those, or haven't upgraded to a minor city/fortress for your other territory, you won't be offered one.

Pretty much set taxes to low to increase pop growth to get to the required level, as well as to bump up a governors chivalry to 5.

In the OP's game, it's turn 60, so any settlements that he has held since turn 25 has already lost 35 guild points. That wipes out the points for at least one crusade army.

@Joris/sbroadbent: That just might be what happened. I was just wierded out since in my first Temp game the Hospitallers joined me instantly and I didn't even call a crusade that game, I never declared war and I only captured 2 settlements in 40 or so turns(didn't realize all of Christendom was willing to rush to my aid). But now in my 2nd game I've done everything right, including 1st crusade on turn 3.

@gluteus: I've considered that too. You would think I'd have peaked their interest by now, owning Jerusalem and Antioch as well as a slew of other Muslim conquests/crusades. Forced me to defend against the Fatimids using spears alone + plus those handy general's bodyguard. At least by this point I'm nearly up to high tier infantry and horse so I won't be as crippled without them. I think I'm going to send every general on the next crusade and see what happens. If I don't get an offer I guess I'll just have to assume they all converted to paganism this game.

Hmm, whenever I take a settlement in a contentious place (Iberia or the Holy Lands), I get offered the guild straight away. I can't remember what happened in my Templar game though, so it might be that because they start over there they're less likely to get offered the guild. Maybe they just hate you.....
