This world has become very polarized with certain alliances having formed over the years. It is interesting though to look at the alliances that have formed during the post Soviet era. During the Soviet era, it was mainly NATO vs. Warsaw Pact, and middle east was rather neutral. Now the alliances have gotten a little more complicated.
And by allies I mean strong military alliances that are exclusive between the countries. I won't list all the countries only the main ones.
NATO ("The West")
-North America
-Most of Europe including numerous Eastern European countries
-Turkey
CIS ("Russian Allies")
-Russia
-Belarus
-Serbia
-Armenia
-Central Asian Nations
Neutral Countries
-Switzerland
-Austria
-Sweden
-Iceland
Countries seesawing between West and Russia
-Ukraine
-Azerbaijan
-Georgia (mostly west now)
Pro-West Middle Eastern Countries
-Saudi Arabia
-Jordan
-Iraq
Anti-West ME countries
-Iran
-Syria
-Lebanon (part)
Feel free to add more alliance categories (esp Asia) or edit any of these.
