Default Units won't go off siege tower & late era problem

Right I just installed 6.1, because rapidshare wasn't being nice the day I got 6.0, and I got to absorbed in my Venetian and Egyptian campaigns, as well as other games, to care.

So anyway, the few times I tried late era, it the game either crashed or went to a early era campaign. Was that fixed in 6.1 somewhat?

Also, sometimes my units would go up a siege tower, but once it opened they would stop reinforcing the guys fighting. They would just stand on the tower or the ground. I guess it's a pathing issue, or the wall was already full (but still doesn't make sense). Is this a vanilla, 6.0, or isolated bug? And how can it be fixed?
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

I cant help you concerning the bug(s) but I'd advice to upgrade to 6.1

There is a 6.1 filefront mirror on the bottom of the alternative mirror list

RS has increased capacity since 1 march so hopefully the mirrors get useful again
but in the meantime there is also

    That's the point.

There is a siege tower bug that occasionally happens which is due to pathing but usually you can move them off tower and try again and it works. Although a good trick is to take some javelin throwers or archers and have them be first up the tower but stop them just before exiting. They will stand there and shoot with much better results than on the ground in front of walls. When ammo is gone retreat them and send in the infantry.

Yeah I've done that before, but sometimes the units on the ladders and down use ammo, and that doesn't make it worthwile.

Also I said I just got 6.1, but as of right now I haven't fought in a siege battle.

In fact, I haven't fought in any battles. It's still turn 6 or something in my new Byzie campaign.

Even if the units down the siege tower use ammo they count as line of sight since the units at the top are close and they can get higher accuracy.
