    Hey guys,

Just wondering, which faction do you have the most fun playing in the GC?

For me personally Great Britain has been the most enjoyable, probably because the game followed history somewhat closely in the beginning (albeit a few years off, of course).

I imposed a watertight blockade on the French and Spanish ports, destroying the French and Spanish fleets in the process off the coast of Portugal. Unfortunately, Nelson died in a fiery explosion when a French 76-gun ship of the line exploded next to the HMS Victory (I just renamed the Rose for history's sake). On the other hand, I managed to capture the French admiral's 122-gun ship of the line as well as the 140-gun Santissima Trinidad! So, all in all, I guess it was a fair deal.

I sailed Wellington and 3/4 stack from London down to Gibraltar just in time to save the Rock from a Spanish siege. I then took the battle to the enemy, captured Madrid, and almost lost it to successive attacks from Spanish forces. It was several months before I was able to clear the province of all the stragglers, and my force was both much smaller and much more experienced. First priority was getting a supply depot up--while I was fighting off the Spanish, unit replenishment was painfully, painfully slow, that's why I almost lost the city.

From there on, it was pretty easy sailing; I reinforced the British expeditionary force in Spain with reinforcements from the British Isles, swept across southern France, and liberated northern Italy. With the Kingdom of Italy dead and the thoroughly modern Italy (complete with modern flag) as my protectorate and ally, I started a two-pronged invasion of central France, marching from the south and landing off the coast of Bretagne and Normandy.

The battle for Paris was very epic, Wellington/Abercromby vs. Napoleon Bonaparte, two stacks on either side. I made sure my four-chevron artillery took out Napoleon as soon as he was in their sights, because he gives ridiculous morale to his units. Once the Petit Corsican was gone, taking out the French army was much easier. I deployed in classic Wellington-style -- reverse slope defense -- and let the enemy come to me, as their artillery was completely ineffective.

Unfortunately, Paris revolted and I had to waste precious time eliminating the two and a half stacks of rebels that showed up.

Eventually, the French were completely destroyed by 1807, and by 1808 I had fulfilled all my victory conditions by capturing the Balearics and then surprise-attacking Denmark.

Let me know which faction you enjoyed the GC with most and why

Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.

I have to say Great Britian too, only because...ironically...they're the "smallest" of the Empires. The other ones have too much established territory and I don't like that.

Not that many NTW players, huh? Only 13 votes so far in 24 hrs?

Edit: if you'd like, do explain why you enjoy a particular faction, or share a particularly exhilarating story

As Russia, I'm at war with Prussia once again. The trouble started after I had liberated Italy and enlarged it by the magnanimity of Count Bennigen's armies. Austria at the time was allied with myself and Prussia, and we had Napoleon at a standstill to say the least. We had taken Bavaria, Wurttemburg and Hannover from him, all of which were sovereign nations under my direction. Napoleon was indeed stalled completely, and things looked to be proceeding well. My campaigns in the Ottoman Empire ended successfully and the Russian war machine was gearing up to finish off the French threat.

Then Austria invaded Italy. It may have seemed a strange decision, to support a fledgling protectorate over so huge a nature as Austria. But Italy was my very favored child. The first nation liberated, and I had an army constantly posted there to protect from the French. Austria marched on Milan, and the four divisions of the Russian army swept into Austria. We liberated Hungary from them, took Venezia, and took Vienna itself twice. The first time we merely looted the city. When they continued to assault us, we looted again, burned every building in every plot and left it to the Austrians. They have yet to rebuild.

They employed Prussia to aid them in their war, at which point the two northernmost armies swept upwards and liberated Poland, expanding it to include Konigsberg. The Prussian army was much easier to placate; they accepted peace shortly after their losses and their armies retreated. Austria lasted longer, but finally accepted peace shortly after a revolution took place and they became a Republic.

Now, however, Prussia has mobilized to retake Poland. A fresh division is en route to support the standing army supporting Warsaw. Already my Polish allies have taken Danzig with the assistance of Kaituzov's army.

    In short..I love being Russian.
