Which GC faction do you enjoy the most?
Hey guys,
Just wondering, which faction do you have the most fun playing in the GC?
For me personally Great Britain has been the most enjoyable, probably because the game followed history somewhat closely in the beginning (albeit a few years off, of course).
I imposed a watertight blockade on the French and Spanish ports, destroying the French and Spanish fleets in the process off the coast of Portugal. Unfortunately, Nelson died in a fiery explosion when a French 76-gun ship of the line exploded next to the HMS Victory (I just renamed the Rose for history's sake). On the other hand, I managed to capture the French admiral's 122-gun ship of the line as well as the 140-gun Santissima Trinidad! So, all in all, I guess it was a fair deal.
I sailed Wellington and 3/4 stack from London down to Gibraltar just in time to save the Rock from a Spanish siege. I then took the battle to the enemy, captured Madrid, and almost lost it to successive attacks from Spanish forces. It was several months before I was able to clear the province of all the stragglers, and my force was both much smaller and much more experienced. First priority was getting a supply depot up--while I was fighting off the Spanish, unit replenishment was painfully, painfully slow, that's why I almost lost the city.
From there on, it was pretty easy sailing; I reinforced the British expeditionary force in Spain with reinforcements from the British Isles, swept across southern France, and liberated northern Italy. With the Kingdom of Italy dead and the thoroughly modern Italy (complete with modern flag) as my protectorate and ally, I started a two-pronged invasion of central France, marching from the south and landing off the coast of Bretagne and Normandy.
The battle for Paris was very epic, Wellington/Abercromby vs. Napoleon Bonaparte, two stacks on either side. I made sure my four-chevron artillery took out Napoleon as soon as he was in their sights, because he gives ridiculous morale to his units. Once the Petit Corsican was gone, taking out the French army was much easier. I deployed in classic Wellington-style -- reverse slope defense -- and let the enemy come to me, as their artillery was completely ineffective.
Unfortunately, Paris revolted and I had to waste precious time eliminating the two and a half stacks of rebels that showed up.
Eventually, the French were completely destroyed by 1807, and by 1808 I had fulfilled all my victory conditions by capturing the Balearics and then surprise-attacking Denmark.
Let me know which faction you enjoyed the GC with most and why

Let me persuade you with my powerful logic skills.
In light of the Total War series, a quote from the theologian whom I respect the most:
The Heavenly City outshines Rome, beyond comparison. There, instead of victory, is truth; instead of high rank, holiness.
