The NTW game engine - Warscape

I've been voicing my opinion long time ago on TWC and on the Org as well for the actual source code of a TW game. Mainly I was ranting for the opening up of the MTW game engine so that all the bugs could be fixed by the modders who were still active on the scene. Not surprisingly, no reply.

Right, so why consider Warscape?
It's the latest one. Let me finish first - I know they won't do it. Only if offered a sum of around 7 digits, then they would gladly sell it, just like Source is doing. And many others.

So, who here agrees to the idea that CA should sell the Warscape engine for a sum of money? I mean, I'm being honest here, it's the last chance for TW veterans to actually see something done. Get all of the modders under one single team (Darth, Lords team, EB, RTR, Deus Lo Vult, Stainless Steel...) and create a amazing TW.

Anyone agree? I hope.

Uniting all of the best modders under one banner sounds rather fanciful to me.

I disagree, as a member of the RTR team I know for a fact that most mod teams are actaully very friendly with eachother and more than willing to help a team in need if the sitaution should arise.

yeah thats the same feeling i got on the matter

to the OP we are talking about a huge amount of money
and in that light I would say that its probaly not going to happen

I remember the willingness from alot of ppl on this site, to donate money
for a new server, which really surprised me

so in some way there might be light at the end of the tunnel
in that regard

but as I said the amount of money is too great

Possibly.

Maybe they'd be willing to sell the older engines used for RTW/M2TW or MTW/STW for a vast sum of money. Maybe someone on here is a rich, retired philanthropist who would be willing to fund this experiment

I'm really skeptic about this one.

Will not happen. The users on this forum ( even if everyone would buy two copies! ) ain't enough by a chance!

I wouldn't want this. I disagree with too many modders about what makes a good game experience.

If you really want it to happen you need to approach them, get some figures and then see what can be done.

If they are willing to sell an engine then you can see how best to raise the money.

Instead of buying the engine why not have CA release mod tools as some kind of DLC. I'm sure they'd get a pretty penny if they were made available

I had wondered about this myself. They (CA) would need to decide what sales (if any) they would lose on DLC and compare that to how much they could sell mod tools for and how many copies they would sell. I doubt they would ever go the Civ 4 route and just open it up.

Sounds so beautiful...

But unfortunately, Ca won't do such stupid (for them) thing.
