Why no new Royal Marines?

I'm wandering if any CA staff can get back to me on this.

Fair enough if you didn't decide to include them as land units, but what about for ships? I played my first naval battle yesterday and it was the same old Union Jack (just Scotland + England) but what got me more was the fact it still had the old sailors and marines.

The marines wear the old uniforms, instead of the ones they actually wore which looked almost like East India Company soldiers from Empire. Also, shouldn't British sailors wear variations of navy blues not reds? And shouldn't the captains have navy blue coats not red?

Just wandering why the naval crew wasn't overhauled.

I can't talk for other nations as I'm not educated on their armed forces of this period.

@ CA: Please just do the guys from Hornblower!

There were a few screenshots posted by CA which feature the new marines models. They apparently didnt make the release, but I would imagine they would patch them in if they've got them completed enough for a screenie.

The lazy bastards! And we're supposed to hand over good money for an incomplete product?

I hope that they haven't had time enough to put units and they've to release it by a free patch.

Those guys from Hornblower are the exact type I'm referring to. They look so badass.

Hmmm, on second thoughts perhaps not quite right.

Ah-ha! Pefect picutre! If they could crew Royal Navy ships in NTW with those lads, I would be so happy. Along with changing out the old Union Flag.

As for the other pic, that's what I'm saying. Those are the old marines. What I would like is the proper style Napoleonic style Marines as seen in your first pic.

During Napoleon wars, a lot of regular infantry was on ships because of loss of man power and needed bodies... thus not very many were actual royal marines. Also I recall reading about battle of Trafalgar and a lot of Royal Marines did not even fight in their proper military attire (which is same as infantry Red Coats)

Actually doing some more reading, during Napoleanic times Royal Marines wore exactly what they are depicted in the second photo from Jihada... round hat made of felt and blue facing on shirt.. with blue or white pants.

And for the flag, it is correct to use that styling of a flag on a merchant ship. Actually it might be wrong I can not really tell if the Irish flag is represented in it correctly.

This is really the only part of the game that is incomplete, the thing that sucks it does not appear to be modifiable in NTW. Last time I protested about CA bringing back a feature they removed from Empire they did... in ntw...

So shall I protest it? and make a "Bring Back the Alpha marines!" thread and poll?

Do it! Update Naval crews or no buy DLC! ... lol
