Default Rome Medieval 3: Hamachi Network

New hamachi network for Rome Medieval 3 players:

Network: Rome Medieval 3 Total War
    Password: 123

FROM HOTFIX #4 ON, YOU DON'T NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANY EXTRA FILE

Hope to see you there soon

    Some suggested rules for multiplayer:

    - Play balanced, flat maps.
    - 12k per player.
    - no artillery.
    - no more than 4 equal units per player (e.g. no more than 4 latin knights, no more than 4 armoured sergents, etc.).
    - no more than 4 units of cavalry per player (including a max of 2 horse archers, and a max of 2 elephants).
    - no more than 2 units of archers per player (excluding horse archers, so each player could pick 2 foot archers plus 2 cavalry archers).

    When playing 2v1:
    - 18k per team.
    - no artillery.
    - no more than 4 cavalry units per player.
    - no more than 6 cavalry units per team. (i.e. the team with two players will have at most 6 cavalry units and the lone wolf will use at most 4 cavalry units)
    - no more than 2 archers per team.

    First post updated:

Since the creation of the RM3 hamachi network, I've realised that at the end of the battle, most of the times one (or both) of the players'/teams' last units were a crowd of archers. Baring this into mind, it was that I first decide to suggest using the 4-archers rule. However, it continued happening... so I thought it would be a good idea reducing even more the number of archers, just not to make it a mere exchange of arrows...

In addition, I realised that with 15k florins, some factions (mostly muslim ones) were useless, as they don't have top-notch units...

After some tests with Rod, these are the new suggested rules:

    - Play balanced, flat maps.
    - 12k per player.
    - no artillery.
    - no more than 4 equal units per player (e.g. no more than 4 latin knights, no more than 4 armoured sergents, etc.).
    - no more than 4 units of cavalry units per player.
    - no more than 2 units of archers per player.

    - no more than 6 cavalry units per team. (i.e. the team with two players will have at most 6 cavalry units and the lone wolf will use at most 4 cavalry units)
    - no more than 2 archers per team.

Any comment (or almost any) will be well-received.

Where do the horse archers fit in?

    As cavalry?

I was wondering exactly the same... I hardly ever use horse archers, so I don't know what their impact is in the balance of the army. I think it would be cavalry, but any suggestion is wellcome

CWB allows 6 cavalry which includes two HA if you buy them, if you don’t buy HA you can have up to 6 cavalry units including the general if the General unit is mounted.

CWB doesn’t allow artillery, what if we include ballista as an option?

Another big issue is corner camping.

First of all, thanks for your suggestions, JackDionne.

I'm not so in favour of using CWB rules, as they don't take into account RM3 cavalry units stats (there are some with 15 points of bonus charge). So, I'll insist in using just 4 units of cavalry.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to add a new rule with a limit of 2 horse archers. As I have already said, I haven't tried the mounted cavalry in multiplayer yet, so I don't know if they behave more like cavalry or like archers... Any further suggestion regarding HA is welcome

About the ballista... I think it's still artillery. My only suggestion is that you can come to an agreement with the other player to use it, but I would not use more than 1, replacing one of your archers, and definitely no noob box allowed in that case. But from my point of view, if it's not a siege, it's more fun playing without artillery.

Well... this thread is made for people who is interested in playing fair. If anyone is thinking of making a corner camping, just don't read this thread. It's useless.

When you deploy your army next to the limit of the map, so that your flanks and back is covered (you can't be surrounded)

BTW, who is LordSimpkins? cause that user appears to be always available on hamachi, but never answers my questions. Just to know if he's receiving anything or not.

Another BTW =P Tolaro, are you alive? Does anyone know anything of him?
