Big Brother - French campaign in Europe

Question: Most of France's "satellites" are allies, which means they can still betray them. As the French player, would it be better to let the enemies take them over so when you liberate the satellites, they now become your protectorates instead?

Yes I'm really liking the European setup. The satellites feel like little brothers that you have to protect from the big bullies and if they behave, you reward them with the bullies' land.

Well taking Switzerland might be worth it for Swiss line infantry, but I wish you could get your allies troops and uniforms even without taking them out, and only Switzerland gives you a unique line infantry type. For the sake of variety, it would be cool having an army with Bavarians and their helmets, red Swiss, blue regular Frenchmen and white Italians), saddly CA hasn't allowed this.

Do you mean, we have to occupy Switzerland and Swiss line infantry is trainable there? Or you rather mean, we have to liberate Switzerland and a unit of two of Swiss line infantry joins Napoleon's armies?

It's trainable there, unless you get lucky liberating Switzerland.

Hm.... will I be able to recruit special units when I conquer Switzerland?

I believe you get the Swiss Foot, red and yellow line infantry.
But if you absord Bavaria, you won't get Bavarian units.

Do you get those special units from LIBERATING Switzerland ("liberating") or from CONQUERING Switzerland?

i just tried liberating and did only get standard french line

but when i liberated poland one time i got the polish legion

I still think it's worth taking Warsaw, as you can then get four legions. And you get a training base for the invasion of Russia.

When I liberated the United Netherlands, I got a general with a Dutch name as the British, I thought that was cool. I actually prefer liberating to occupying.
