    Default Forced Diplomacy & Protectorates

    Hello friends.

I was wondering. I currently use the force diplomacy mod. I try very hard not to abuse it as can be easily done. But rather help the AI to function normally in relation to the human player. I've been using my FD mod for a number of situations. I call ceasefires on nations that go to war with me based on the fact that one of their controlled regions rebels in my favor. I freely share map info with those of my allies and vise-versa. I order allies to attack common enemies when needed, I usually pay an incentive of 1000$. And of course...the thing I feel most dirty about creating protectorates. All the while I use "normal" diplomacy in between all these forced diplomacy actions. I wouldn't consider myself to be abusing the forced diplomacy mod, do you?

So, with that said...2 general questions.

    1) When is the best time to force a nation to become a protectorate considering the fact that they will never submit under "normal" diplomacy. After I take their Capitol? After I take from then the regions needed for my victory condition? Or after I leave them with 1 region to themselves? Or do I just never use the AI nations as protectorates?

    2) Do you think I'm being abusive with the Forced Diplomacy mod as is? And if so...how is best to use it without "cheating".

All opinions and suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you.

I use it about the same way as you. Minus the map information, that's something the AI usually tends to give away anyway once you grow more powerful.

About the protectorates thingy, I only use that if I want a faction to keep living. If I want them dead, they die. So I usually leave the ones that I find worthy of my mercy with 1 province, then make them my protectorate. The amount of money you get from your protectorates that only have 1 province is usually near to nothing. Somewhat around the worth of 1 or 2 buildings. (And that's on VH.)

But no, I don't consider the way you use it cheating. Exactly as anyone should use it imho. =)

I try to use FD as little as possible. I haven't found usage for it mostly. The only time I did it was to give myself military access through the KH lands so that my thracian mercs can pass through. IF I use FD for creating protectorates, it would be after the following events - a desire for the faction to survive, I have bled them white and annihilated their armies in at least 3-4 huge battles and they're helpless to prevent an invasion from other states.
I don't think you're abusing the FD, far from it. Abusing it is another matter entirely.

Keep in mind that if you play on a VH difficulty you will be leeching horrible amounts of money from protectorates cause of the money script.

When I wish to Rp a protectorate I try to use an alliance, in the same way Arche Seleukeia has with Baktria and Pontus
Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they are in good company.

is there a force diplomacy mod strictly for vanilla barbarian invasion? Or do I have to download one of these separate mods?
