Has anyone noticed how sometimes you kill and average of 4 people for anyone they killed and they give you a "close victory". Is there a way to get Heroic all the time by making battle decisions differently?

I'm getting Heroic Victorie's 85% of the time I play battles![]()

I make it harder for myself by playing badly in the campaign
Corrupt inefficient government FTW! Revolutions abound! Irritated, rubbish generals antagonised by being placed in the worst possible positions! High taxes constantly! Riots! Wars everywhere! It's a hilarious, fun-fun-fun 24 hour Bedlam!
Heroics are rare for me

The Saga of Grettir the Strong, chapter 82
I think it might be to do with how the game understands the balance of forces at the start. I've never had a heroic victory when I've been kicking a small army around, but I get them all the time if I pull a win off with just a meagre force.
I fought 8-9 battles and had won one Heroic Victory .. but that was a drop in battle![]()
I get them most of the time, the few times I haven't its been a pyrrhic style victory or I'm outnumbered.
I occassionally get heroic victories, but still get close victories even if i killed three thousand of the enemy for a loss of 800 myself. I have only had one phyrric victory so far though defending a town, my last 80 line infantry were all promoted after that.![]()
Decisive victory is the one you really want.
Close victory think has to do with the fact that even though you outnumbered the AI or player you have about the same amount of casualties.
I have gotten some heroic victories for no clear reason. One time, me and my enemy had about the same number of men, but I had more experience. I won and got a heroic victory for what seemed to be an obvious battle.
Though a decisive battle, that is hard to get, and I only got it a few times when I manage to rout a larger army efficiently
Decisive is the one that marks the map right? Because I'm getting Heroic a lot but not getting the marker nearly as much.
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.
play on H/VH and drop-in could augment your chance
sometime you won with a very few losses or when you have only your general left standing could give you heroic victory
decisive or historical (?) will get you a sword cross on the campaign map
Men are nothing, One Man is everything.
