I would usually play Empire on very hard (campaign) and normal (battle) because of the ridiculous bonuses that very hard would confer on the AI player. I would like to know if those bonuses have been removed and very hard simply relates to the AI's tactical ability rather than boosting its accuracy, morale etc?

If not, I'll continue to play on VH/N.

I also used to play previous titles on VH/VH. With NTW though I've been sticking to H/H, and it's giving me quite a challenge.

Don't know the answer to your question though, sorry.

No, H and VH have no bearing on the AI's tactical ability, merely on bonuses. Many, like myself, prefer the H setting because the minor bonuses of H 'feels' right given the AI's sorry strategy.

So no, H and VH have no effect on tactics, just bonuses.

from what i have heard its the same as Empire. VH and Hard battles will give the AI bonuses but no tactical advantage. I play on Normal battles as well.

I find H and VH particularly depressing in naval battles where, thanks to your superior sailing, your ships can get off more shots on the enemy but then the AI just replies with one broadside which destroys the same number of guns as your 3 or 4 broadsides combined.

I'll attempt to play on H setting in the Europe campaign although I am finding VH/N in Egypt something of a challenge as the Mamelukes keep rebuilding their forces and throwing them against my battle-weary armies. It's sad to think the the AI will be the same, though, as there are still some major problems; I've experienced a single unit of Mamelukes charging almost the entire length of my line until it's completely shot to pieces. Same with the occasional unit of General Staff.

Is it really that hard to give the AI more tactical bonuses from the Developer Point of View? I mean how hard is it to tell the AI where to go and what to do on different situations.
