So far in my first campaign I've noticed that whenver I approach and enemy army of larger size they send a small force to attack me and let the rest appear into the battle as reinforcements.

It makes it a lot easier to defeat them because they come in waves and not bulk which is there best hope seeing as the majority of their armies are militia. (Im attacking minor nations)
