Error Code 10104
When trying to install the patch I get "Error 10104" with a message saying: the patch may be corrupt or the file being patched is different...
I've tried every one of the steps, except cleaning my registry and testing memory, with no success. I finally gave up and played different games, etc.
Now I'm trying again...
Toward the bottom of the trouble-shooting instructions is this line:
I don't think I have any "emulation software" and have never even heard of those that're listed (Alcohol, etc) however...I remembered from trying to install Fallout 3 that "emulation software" may be related to PC gamepads...but I don't really know.Remove ANY emulation software completely: Alcohol, DaemonWare, Roxio. Clean the registry, run clean boot, and patch.
In an effort to try anything I unplugged my 360 controller from the PC. I got a new message this time saying: "Emulation software detected please disable..."
I had already unplugged it. I went to the Device Manager to "disable" it but I couldn't find it listed anywhere.
Doesn't unplugging the controller disable it? Do I have to uninstall the...something...related to the controller? I have a vague recollection of something downloading/installing when I plugged up the controller, do I have to remove whatever that was?
Should I clean my registry? If so, how? Please give detailed step-by-step instructions...as if you were explaining to a 4yo child with a learning disability who doesn't speak the same language as you
How do I test my memory? I'll need instructions for this in the simplest language possible.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I must repeat that I need things explained in the simplest terms. Do not assume I know where folders are or have even rudimentary knowledge. I understand plug-n-play.
