Sauron, the Honourable Dark Lord. He embraces general culture and is very obediently minded. All hail the Dark Lo.........

....wait a minute. Ummmm... I guess we can call the war for the One Ring off. He's really not that bad for an evil Dark Lord. In fact, I sorta dig the guy.

On a side note, how do you get Sauron to look on your faction favorably? I have TATW 1.41 and he just doesn't seem to like Isengard very much. I do all his missions and he just slowly starts to dislike my faction.

    Honourable lord XD

Well, about general culture, he IS a Maiar, his culture spread from the ancient ages to "modern" days. He probably knew personally most of the Valar! He battled Beren and Luthien! Sure he deserve some culture ;-)
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

I always thought, the bad guys never cared about honor, only about winning at all cost and being powerful.
So I'd say honor is the wrong term here...

He got this name probably because he didn't do anything, just sits in his lonesome throne room and does nothing to increase "fear" ...
And then who knows: maybe in some game we might find "Sauron the Lazy")

The tyrant Sauron is definitely neither obedient nor obediently minded

If his (honorary) titles are scripted, they surely are a strange choice...

In RR/RC, he will like you more if you exterminate cities and execute prisoners. In fact if you don't do it, he will get a bit upset.

Both Aragorn and Boromir are labled "Lord of Terror"...it's insane. Boromir has max dread and max command and almost max obedience. I don't know what I did with Boromir that was so cruel lol? I release prisoners sometimes, mostly I ransom them. And I awlays end battles when the enemy flees. Also all my cities are low tax areas.

    Do you sack/exterminate settlements?

It is probably just a carryover from the vanilla medieval files. Sauron is replacing the Pope, after all, which means that if the traits the Pope could pick up in vanilla aren't changed to reflect the fact that they now refer to Sauron, Sauron is going to get titles like "Honourable" and "Saint."

I always occupy, never anything else. I can only assume that I have been using both of them agressively in battle. Aragorn has some trait like he is ferocious and demonlike on the battlefield or something. And this is what triggered it, I think Boromir does too. But I never pursue the enemy once they surrender. For Mordor it doesn't matter, they respawn troops anyways so killing them does no good. I just let them run away and reduce my own losses and save time.

Boromir is engaging Mordor and Aragorn is taking out Harad.

Just take a look at what traits they have. If you know what they are, you can also find out what triggered them by looking @ export_descr_character_traits.txt in ...\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age\data. That shouldn't be too difficult.

Chasing fleeing enemies has no effect on the dread or chivalry, it's only what you do with them after the battle that counts. I would chase them down, then ransom after. You will either get some cash, or they will refuse and the guys will be killed, but you will still have a chivalrous general.

Yoou get "lord of terror" and traits like that when you attack a stack that you outnumber. I send an army led by a captain to deal with small stacks if I don't want my general to get dread

    Lolwut?

I guess I should invite the dude over for dinner. He seems pretty awesome; I should consider asking what his favorite type of tea is. We could also talk about history and all sorts of cool stuff.
