    Default Settlement names

Reading another thread (Correct City names), I remembered something I wanted to say for quite some time (but kept forgetting to).

There are some cities like Tirith Anduin and Tirith Thoron, that I have seen in the game, who I cannot locate in any Tolkien map, so I suppose they were created for the game. What I understand from what the team means by Tirith is city, when it means White. So Tirith Anduin and Tirith Thoron would be the White of Anduin and the White of Thoronwaith, while Anduin City and Thoron City would be Minas Anduin and Minas Thoron.

Just tell me if I've got something wrong or the thinking behind the names is different!

    Τhanks!!

Tirith means of guard or watch-> Minas Tirith means Tower of the Watch.

In these cases these city's seem to be name Guard/Watch of the Anduin and Guard/Watch of Thoronwaith.

The name Minas Tirith means "The Tower of Guard" or "The Tower of Watch" in the Elvish language Sindarin

Initially its name was Minas Anor (Tower of the Sun), and Minas Morgul's name was Minas Ithil (Tower of the Moon). They changed their names when Minas Ithil fell into the hands of the Nazgùl, so it became "tower of the sorcery" (or something similar), and the other became the Watchtower. :-)
