I'm not sure if it's possible to truly liberate major factions, but looting their former capitol city and leaving it unguarded should cause the rebels to retake it and reform their nation. Only problem is you'll be at war with them which seems to be contrary to your goals. You could also try taking a few territories and then gifting them for peace/alliance/trade etc which could work, but that means defending all those territories in the meantime.

Good luck and nice work! +rep

Haha I just tried the Demo of NTW and I am not convinced I am going to buy it. Think I will wait a while for the price to go down to a resonable price for a game like this also whant to wait and see what the possibilitys will be on the modding front.

    New Update

    LIBERATION
Europe at the end of December 1810

    January 1811 - Part 15 - A New Year

The Year is 1811, it has been 12 months since the liberation of Europe began, and much has changed, leaving Napoleon and the French Empire extremely weakened in power and might on the western shores of Europe. Nevertheless, the French Navy still stands within the English Channel, although damaged in previous battles, The French have attempted to stop British supply lines with their allies on the mainland yet again.

    - The Battle of Channel Part II 1811

Sir Sidney Smith attacked the French near the coast, many of the ships including in their fleet were involved in the previous battle, such as Indivisible, a French 122 gun Ship of Line, which fled the channel after being defeated. It is important Smith defeats the French Navy here, so the United Kingdom will be able to concentrate their naval efforts on an invasion in Southern Russia.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The battle led to the surrendering and capture of Indivisible, which shall now serve along side HMS Mecure, another large ship of line of the French Fleet, which surrendered in the previous battle. Sir Sidney Smith should now be able to concentrate his forces elsewhere with his re-establishment of Royal Navy dominance in the seas and supply lines, dramatically helping the coalition's continued war effort.

    January 1811 - Part 16 - A Struggling Settlement

The French Army have continued their attacks on Alexander Mercer's fort in Caen throughout the winter, raiding and plundering nearby settlements and towns in the region in an attempt to effect the Mercer's men much more in their rumoured impermeable fortress. Louis Almeras, another French General attempting to reoccupy the prized Normandy coast began his siege of the city under another smooth blanket of snow.

    - The Siege of Caen Part II 1811

Armed Citizenry deployed along the broken, weathered walls of the fort, while Mercer himself and his men established a defensive position just outside the fort itself, ready to meet Almeras' army as soon as the battle commences. Alexander's army, now weakened with a lack of morale face the superior French Force. Let us hope this is not a similar repeat of the Duke of Wellington's issues on the Weser River in the north

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Battle resulted in Victory after Louis Almeras, the French General was struck with a hail of cannon fire from the British walls as he and his men advanced on the Fort, leading to the confusion and routing of much of the least disciplined forces of his army. Nevertheless, The Old Guard, an elite unit of the French Empire managed to break through the British Line after a powerful charge, leading to the deaths of many of Mercer's men. The Old Guard, with elements of some Light Infantry regiments pushed the British backwards, until one British regiment held them at bay on one of the flanks as another charged the occupied Old Guard from behind, leading to the slaughter of the French Old Guard and victory in Caen.

    The Death of Louis Almeras

However, The battle was very costly, Mercer had lost 5 Line Infantry Regiments, his entire dragoon force and several units of howitzers, along with a severely damaged fort after several successful artillery strikes on the walls. Alexander decided Caen would be much easily defended by the Duchy of Brittany, and made the decision for the occupation of the city by the Dutchy to occur while Alexander is able to replenish and supply his forces with help from the Dutchy's armies. The occupation of Caen by Brittany will also allow Alexander to concentrate his army elsewhere, perhaps even Paris itself.

    War rages in Southern France

A Massive Spanish force has been reported in Southern France, although damaged by the French Empire's armies, will their sheer numbers be able to take them to the walls of Paris, before even the British or Liberated States of the North West? All their attempts have failed so far, and one does wonder how much of a defensive force France must have themselves to oppose such a force.

    To be continued.

    New Update

    LIBERATION
Europe at the end of January 1811

February 1811 - Part 17 - The Bombardment of Hessen

With the long-awaited liberation of Hannover a success, The Duke of Wellington and his men have diverted south, to the settlement of Hesse-Kassel, which has unfortunately been under the occupied by the French for many years. Now with other former French states free from Napoleon's regime, it is time for the Electorate of Hesse-Kassel to be re-established and the liberated to continue further eastwards in order to continue the damage Napoleon Empire's efforts and bring the balance of power back.

    - The Battle of Hesse-Kassel 1811

Bernard de Sechelles and a 4500 man French garrison take position within the streets of Kassel as Wellington approaches from the North as the sun settles late afternoon within the wintery February. British Howitzers bombard the French Position as the men of line advance on the French defensive positions, which included a regiment of the legendary Polish Legion.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The settlement was within ruins, buildings ablaze, collapsing under the bombardment of cannon fire as bodies lay within the narrow streets of Kassel. Bernard, falling to the ground as he attempted to flee the battle under a cloud of musket flashes and fire. Wellington was victorious and the Electorate of Hesse-Kassel liberated and free once again, dealing yet another blow to the French Empire.

6 new states now lye in north-west Europe since the start of Wellington's campaign, the grand city of Brandenburg is now within reach of the coalition, although French offensives are still occuring within Westphalia, they must be aided if they are going to continue to survive. Nevertheless, an army has been raised in London, for the opening a new front, it won't be long until this army sets sail as a new fleet is raised from the Docks of Portsmouth.

    To be continued.

Nice updates u r going at real speed which is nice.
    @ERIK3E
Yep Napoleon is the only leader u can fight with as a soldier in war, Willam Pitt would never be able to fight a battle.

What unit sizes/mods do you use?

Epic and well-told, with startlingly beautiful pictures. Do you watch replays and find the cool things, or do you find them whilst you play?

I've edited the preference file myself to double the ultra unit size, so line infantry are up to 320 men per unit on my campaign. I also just recently got myself the Additional Units Mod and Radious Sound mod. Although none of my update have yet to include any new units from AUM, you should be seeing some soon, just so my battles look more varied with different units such as the Coldstream Guards or Royal British Fusiliers included in the mod.

I find the amount of urban fighting in your AAR interesting...makes for good pics and varies up the story nicely, but I find that I rarely end up in the cities in my campaigns. hmmm

Anyways, waiting eagerly for the next installment!
