Me and a mate are playing, he's England and I;m prussia, and we're allied.

I try to attack Hessen, but whatever the options are (default fight battles or default auto resolve) I can't fight battles wirth the AI on the campaign map, except when my mate plays the AI.

Is there a option to fight the AI on the battlemap?

I would like to know this also. From changing the settings around it seems that the only options you have is to either auto resolve all battles against the AI or have your friend take control of the AI's army.

The way we get around this is we send calvary units to tag along with each others armies and to sit next to each other's cities that we feel may be attacked by the AI. This does get a little annoying after a while but it's either that or the crappy auto resolve.

What really sucks it you have to have an alliance and military access with them which means if you want to actaully attack your friend, you have to auto resolve any AI battles that might come up. You also have to go to war with any faction that attacks him, Prussia attacked my friend once and I really did not feel like going to war with them but i had no choice.

I wish they would just let us fight the AI, giving the other players in the campaign an option to watch would be a bonus. It's kind of fun watching my friend fight the AI and seeing his tactics in case i ever want to atack him.

I see nobody's answered this in over a year. I hope that's not because there's no answer.
I think this could just be a very unfortunate bug because one is able to set the AI battle difficulty in Game Settings before beginning the campaign.
I don't want to always have to play my friend. Anyway, if we're allied, he may have some qualms doing as much damage as he can.
I just wish they would test-play these Total War games before releasing really promising sounding features.

I don't think its directly possible, but if your enemy has an army (1 unit militia or whatever size/unit) in range of the site where you plan to attack the AI-then the AI takes control of the army you directly attack, while your human enemy takes control of his militia unit which is meant to arrive as backup. So for pretty much all of the battle, you fight the AI directly for most of the battle, and the human enemy's militia unit is very easy to defeat.
Give that a try...It may work...

There is an answer. Its not an option because multiplayer campaign is for people who want a challenging campaign against a human player not people who just want to help their freinds defeat the completely retarded ai. The aim of a multiplayer campaign is to defeat the other player, so why would you want to help them win a battle.

If he is attacking Hessen and not Prussia...
Unless Prussia is a major stakeholder in Hessen's affairs, it shouldn't be too much of a problem tbh
Though ofc it is a shame the AI is retarded haha
