Increase the number of colleges/universities

Hi all,

I just want to increase the number of colleges/universities to perform more than one research; like we had in ETW, because the only way to have more universities is attack city that has one .... any diplomatic solution is most welcome

You can rebuild any town into a school AFAIK.

Not in Napoleon, the cities now work like Farms so only a certain type of Building can be constructed in a city.
e.g.
School or Gentleman's Club,
Artillery or Rifle Factory
Market or Supply Depot
etc.

thanks for your reply; it seems that there are no way to build colleges in NTW expect to capture a region that has college.....

or one that has a secret society or whatever it´s called. you can turn them in like 4 turns to the equivalent building level. they are pretty common, so it shouldnt be a problem. my main problem in my 3 campaigns was to get the buildings built up that are required for certain techs.

There isn't as many techs in Napoleon plus to much tech and public order goes down

You will most likely control and pacify the whole map before the techs are done. The buildings take so long to build and the techs to long to train. My last play through I had 5 colleges and never finished the last tier and the computer seemed way behind. Howitzers are my favorite and by the time I was able to build them I just had Russia left the rest of the map was protectorates. The AI never used any Howitzers against me either was sad. I have a feeling mods will adjust the techs and buildings time.

Trading via your allies can now be done as well. It's harder for the French, but the coalition can tech trade among a variety of partners. Often you'll have to trade 2:1 or 3:2, but as long as you're doing this among multiple people it should work fine.

It's easier to trade for tech in NTW.

Austria seems very willing to sell low to mid level tech for just a few thousand. Prussia seems to have more tech but it's harder to get them to part with it.

there's a new button for this called "Change Building Type" you click on it and can convert that town into what ever other option it is allowed to have, this is how you'd get multiple colleges.

Many (almost all?) nations only start with one building slot of that type. You can only switch gentleman clubs over to colleges...useful but not always available.

This was implied in your post by 'other option' but it may have been a bit misleading...

Whatever the way you could acquire technologies; NTW seems harder than ETW in technological advances, plus I couldn't believe that France is unplayable in the Coalition campaign. there should be a mod to unlock the unplayable faction. I hope to see it soon.

France is playable in the napoleonic campaigns, you just have to play italy and egypt first (you don't have to finish).


It's not playable in the coalition campaign because it starts with some ungodly bonuses that would make it incredibly easy for a player to just steamroll everyone.
