Dissapearing army while retreating.

I am sorry if there was such a question before but i couldn't find any topics smiliar to mine.
As stated above-my armies disappear when I try to retreat from a battle on the normal map-there is this standard sound of losing army and its gone. Just like that. To make it interesting it seems that only armies with genereals tend to disappear.

Im pretty that if you use almost all your movement points in a turn and then lose a battle, you cannot retreat and your army is "destroyed". This also happens if your on enemy territory that isn't surrounded by any of your own or allied provinces. It also happens if your on an island and there is no fleet sitting on the coast for the army to retreat back to. I don't think it matters if there was a general leading the army or not.

If you have no movement points, you CANNOT retreat. The button is greyed out. You can only Auto-Resolve, or fight it.

or when your army is cornered (theres a skull at the picture), it will be destroyed when u either lose or try to retreat...
