Default Trouble with Nvidia gtx 260

I just purchased the aforementioned graphics card and it made my life a living Hell. I've been trying to install the darn thing for about three hours now, and still no luck.

So far, I have it plugged in and everything. All connections seem good; however, I cannot find a place for the yellow, brown, and black power cords.

Moreover, I cannot get my computer to recognize that the card is even there. When I plug my adapter(?) into the card's output slot, it doesn't work. It is worthy of mention also that I have a -terrible- built in graphics system.

Please, I would appreciate any help or adivce; I'm at wit's end, here!

What do you mean you can't find a place for the 'yellow, brown, and black power cords'? If your referring to 6 pin power connection you find a spare plug coming from your PSU and plug it into the 6 pin hole that at the side of the video card (opposite side to where the gold contact pins are). I doubt you will be able to run this video card (even boot it up) with out the extra power connection.

I'm sorry, but I am a little confused. I have two three-pin power cord outputs. Where can I plug them in/

(please, if you can, explain any terms that a person with only minimal knowledge of computers wouldn't have.)

Ok I can see where your going wrong here, you can't use 2 X 3 pin power connections you need to use 1 6 pin power connection. IF you don't have that then in the box it should have come with a 2x 4 pin power adaptor to 1x 6 pin connection. It should look something like this.

Just plug 2 4 pin male connections (like the ones that go into your hard drive and DVD drive) into the adaptor then plug the 6 pin into the video card.

Check the box, they normally do come with these as a standard. If not you will have to buy one.

    Lol.

Learn from this graphics cards are only going to get bigger with twice as many connectors.

I'm still shocked on how many people don't know what a 6 pin connector is its obvious but still quite strange if you will.
