How many historical battles are out there in total ? 15 ?
i fink theres 10 but there could be more i've completly forgot but you got to win the 1st battle to unlock the next part like what they did in mtw1 which i thought was more challenging to do

I've played Lodi and Arcole so far (as I've finished Italian Campaign and started Egypt campaign; want to have that history feeling)
Lodi is a fun battle
you need to move quickly in lodi battle as austrian forces retreat across the bridge. My strategy was to attack left (their rearguard) with chasseurs and cavalry (with nappy in support for morale), while your main inf body advances slower towards town.
Once the left side is cleared I moved my quick horse arty on that hill to pound the town it's buildings and retreating austrians, while all cavalry and chasseurs moved towards the second crossing further and made fought their way through to the other side of river, while remaining infantry engaged austrians in the town.
The austrian general will almost always make it across the river, but the thing is when he tries to run your dragoons and chasseurs who crossed through second crossing will catch him with his pants down
Oh and speaking about Arcole battle check this out for inspiration

I'm on the Pyramid one with the Mameluks. Its damn hard, I keep moving my men and cannon to try and form a solid battle line instead of being spread out so I don't get flanked by their Mameluk cavalry. They just keep rushing me and owning me.
I really like this approach to Historical Battles. Instead of just "HERE YOU GO LOL GET ON WITH IT THEN NUB" it feels like more of a progression, and it helps that it follows a mild narrative and all that. I like them, it feels like there's more content in this one.
As for Lodi I nailed it first time. I camped and bombarded the Austrians whilst my cav flanked round and merked their general. Easy peasy. And when they advance on your lines you, again, camp and shoot them to bits.
cheers never thought of that about the artillary on the hillLodi is a fun battle

good thing is least these battles aint too easy so you have to think of what you have to do.
lol great vid
yeah you do one by one theres also 2 sea battles battle of the nile and trafalgerDo you need to unlock the historical battles by fighting them in order? That sounds like a challenge! But it's a pity they (CA) left out some important battles, like Jena-Auerstädt and Friedland...
Napoléon1er
i bet they will do the penninsila campain and we will have to pay a fiva![]()
Anyone got onto Waterloo yet? How does it play?
lol ill be amazed if someone has yet
You have to move fast and get some Cav to the 2nd bridge for you can intercept the AI general. When he tries to escape he isn't exactly moving very fast. Easy catch, and take that bridge.
im hoping theres going to be some peninsular war ones in an expansion DLC or something!
Has anyone completed the Battle of Waterloo? It's so hard! It's like doing a charge up to the ridge doesn't work, Flanking them sort of works but when your army is in position the Prussians are marching up right behind you and the British down in front of you. But retreating to Placenoit and fortifying that place the Prussians take 45 minutes to get to you and they die of course but you don't have enough time to destroy the British.
It's really hard!
I find with Arcole just blob rush the bridge with bayonets and then set up your forces to defend the bridge.
I'm currently on Austerlitz, it's hard getting them off the heights and then advancing your line up without 1 catching on 1 of the russians therefore meaning you gotta backtrack.
