Problem every time I try to run Empire

Hi...I have just reinstall the game since 3 months ago. Every time I run it my screen shows my desktop other than the main menu, the thing is that I can even hear the music of the menu and I can click on the options from the desktop but I cant see the main menu screen. I have tried ecerything possible and I have reinstall the game via steam a few times since that and the problem is the same. Its funny cos I used to play Empire months ago and it worked just fine, its now that I have reinstall the game that this happens to me.

Any help and ideas will be great. Thanks!!

The best things so far are delete all mods left over from three months ago, delete the scripts folder, and verify game cache integrity.
